Bethany Kindy wishes all a very blessed Chinese New Year.

It was celebration time on Monday (the eve of Chinese New Year) and the main highlight of the day was

our traditional steamboat feast!

Love 1

The children were introduced to the various stamps and the coloured ink pads.

This stamping activity requires eye hand coordination

as they pick up a stamp, press it onto the ink pad and transfer the image onto the paper.

They loved to see the different pictures from the stamps and some decided to stamp their hands too.

Love 1

Left to right:

Alwyn told his friends that his Lego piece is yellow with blue wheels.

Acelin showed his penguin that has a button on top.

Leo brought his Korean picture book and showed us his favourite page which has pictures of vehicles.

Josiah counted the number of wheels on his yellow digger.

Love 2

Left to right:

Carolyn pointed out the 4 big yellow wheels on her Lego car.

Joy brought a light stick which has 4 different colours in it.

Nathanael explained the use of the carriage connects on his tram.

Cheng Yi demonstrated the use of his candy dispenser by pushing its head.


Fun & Movement

Love 1 & 2

Jumping is a Motor Milestone that requires strength, balance, coordination, body awareness

and motor planning.

With the development of their skills in jumping for distance,

the children were taught the open-close jumps.

The modified hoop ladder was used to promote sequence jumps,

changing configuration to teach the children open-close jumps

in preparation for games such as hop scotch.

Some took multiple attempts to grasp the coordination needed for the open-close jumps.


They then pick up a ball, run to the next hoop, and aim to throw it into the box!


Joy & Peace

The overarm throw was taught and demonstrated to the children.

They then attempted the overarm throw –

they grasped the ball in one hand, aimed at the pins and threw the ball to knock the pins down!


To challenge the children further, the number of pins was reduced from 3 to 1.

With the area to aim decreased, the children had to focus their aim even more

and point their throwing hand towards their goal!


Aesthetics (Music & Movement)

The children first learnt to get the tune and rhythm right.

After which, they were challenged to come up with a movement of their own,

to dance in rhythm as the tune was sung.

It takes both confidence and creativity

to stand in front of their friends and dance a unique dance for them to see!

Those who were part of the audience,

learnt to appreciate their friends’ dances by cheering and clapping for them.

(This encourages participation!)
