Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified and experienced staff in Dance and/or Music to apply for an opportunity to ‘shadow’ the Arts Coordination Officers (SEO1), in a part-time capacity for the Ultimo Operational Directorate. The shadow officer/s will be employed for two days per week and will support the leadership and organisation of major festivals and local arts projects. A shadow Arts Coordination Officer is required from late Term 1 until the end of Term 2 with an expertise and experience in Dance education. For Term 3, the position requires a shadow Arts Coordination Officer with an expertise and experience in Music education. The Arts Coordination Officer supports teachers and schools in the development and implementation of arts programs, performances and major arts festivals. The role requires high level administration, communication, management and leadership skills. ARTS COORDINATION ‘shadow’ OFFCIER

Statement of Duties

Supporting and monitoring the implementation of the Department’s Arts Education Framework to enhance K-12 student outcomes.

Coordinating the implementation of arts programs, performances and events.

Facilitating the design and delivery of innovative Arts programs that meet emerging

needs of students and teachers in all Art forms.

Contributing to State wide arts planning and coordinating State arts projects in partnership with The Arts Unit.

Training and supporting teachers in all art forms through the design and delivery of

appropriate professional learning.

Preparing and monitoring budgets, action plans, briefings, website materials, and

reports relating to Arts programs and events.

Supervising the work of support staff.

Drafting Ministerial responses and correspondence.

Selection criteria

Teaching qualifications and recent school based experience.

Ability to lead, monitor and evaluate combined schools’ creative arts programs

including ensembles, workshops, camps, performances, exhibitions and festivals.

Experience in preparing and managing budgets, preparing project management plans,

briefings, materials for publication on the web, correspondence and reports.

High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work

collaboratively and liaise and negotiate with key stakeholders.

Demonstrated commitment to the values of public education.

Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policies.

Current driver’s licence and ability to engage in travel between work sites.
