I am so excited to be able to reach out to you and share some of the amazing events and achievements that current Beta Etas have been accomplishing this semester! At the beginning of the semester, we hosted our bi-annual Scholarship dinner, which celebrated the scholastic achievements of all our members. Arie Tousi, our Scholarship Chair and I, awarded 75 members with certificates for their outstanding scholastic achievement in this past fall semester. We had three members achieve a 4.0 or higher. Sisterhood in Beta Eta has been strong for the entire year, but our new sisterhood chair, Blair Girkins has been very busy planning multiple events this semester for our members to attend. We have continued a long-standing tradition of Friday night movie nights, which happen right after dinner and give our members, whether in-house or out-of-house a chance to relax after a long week. We have also had sisterhood outings to see movies in theaters – something that many members enjoy as sometimes it is nice to get away from campus. “I believe in Alpha Delta Pi. I believe that my sorority is more than a ritual or a symbol; that it is a way of life. I believe that the principles established by our founders in 1851 are enduring attributes, exemplifying the highest ideals of Christian womanhood. I believe that our motto, “We Live for Each Other”, expresses the true spirit of fraternity; and that by living this motto my life will be enriched by true friendships and by unselfish service to mankind…”

--The week of January 14 was Sisterhood Week! We enjoyed a different sisterhood activity each day. Some of these events included ADPampering, a spa night with our sisters, ADPilates, where we did some pilates and yoga together, and a fro-yo & movie night!

--On March 15, we had our Sisterhood Sleepover! We had fun participating in all sorts of activities, including fanny pack decorating and making care packages for our sisters studying abroad!

--The weekend of April 5-7 was Beta Eta’s Mom’s Weekend! Moms from all over flocked to the Pi Palace to participate in the exciting activities planned! The Beta Etas and their moms got mother-daughter manicures, decorated cupcakes, and went to a barbeque dinner together!

--On February 10, we had a Stella and Dot Trunk Show! Stella and Dot sells super cute jewelry, and a portion of the sales went to the Ronald McDonald House!

--On April 1, we hosted Mr. Greek Week, a male pageant open to the Greek community to benefit Greek Week 2013!

--On April 7, we had our annual philanthropy event, Alpha Delta Picnic. It was a big hit! Parents, friends, and students all gathered at the Pi Palace for a picnic lunch catered by the popular Pizza House. There were many activities at the event, including a DJ, lemonade pong, and a performance by the Harmonettes, an all-female a cappella group on campus! There was also a silent auction with many cool items up for bid, including a Stella and Dot necklace and tickets to a UM ice hockey game! All proceeds from the event were donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Ann Arbor. We were incredibly thankful and excited to raise so much money for RMH!

--This semester, we have partnered with Rent the Runway, an online shop that affords customers the opportunity to rent expensive dresses at a reasonable price. Anyone who rented a dress and used a special code received a discount, and 10% of sales were donated to RMH! How could we go wrong with cute dresses and helping RMH at the same time!?

A Letter from our President, continued…

continue to be to Beta Eta. Our Membership Education Vice President, Shira Moskowitz, along with our guard, Brinley

Bruton, organized a Ritual Review Workshop to highlight this importance. We discussed the importance of all aspects

of ritual – from chapter etiquette and dress, to the meaning behind the Fifteenth Psalm and why it is important to keep

the ideals of our founders in mind in all aspects of our daily lives. We even had a fun competition to see who could

recite the Fifteenth Psalm the fastest. Overall, members really appreciated the time Brinley and Shira took to stress the

importance of ritual and I think many people took away a lot of positive aspects from the workshop.

Thank you for taking the time to catch up with Beta Eta, and we hope that you are doing well and staying in

the loyalty of Alpha Delta Pi!

Loyally in Alpha Delta Pi,

Lauren
