Implementation  0 Buy-­‐in  from  staff  who  participate  and  a  plan  for  implementation.    What  is  your  goal  for  using  the  system?  

0 Train  numerous  staff  members  to  use  system  for  coaching:    administrators,  academic  specialist,  department  heads,  academic  leads,  etc.  

0 Use  for  coaching,  not  punitive  measures.  0 What  are  you  going  to  do  with  the  results?  0 Set-­‐up,  practice  runs,  and  working  out  the  logistics.

LIVE  COACHING  0 Focus  the  coaching  on  the  coaches  strengths.    This  way  the  coaching  is  valid  and  not  Rilled  with  ‘Rluff’.  

0 Practice,  Practice,  Practice  the  live  coaching  with  the  ear  bud  and  mic  before  attempting  it  with  students.  

0 This  type  of  coaching  should  be  a  follow-­‐up  to  other  methods  that  have  been  previously  in  place  for  it  to  be  truly  effective.

OBSERVING      0 Time  stamping  comments.  0 Reviewing  the  session  with  the  teacher  and  using  techniques  to  focus  in  on  strengths  and  weaknesses.    After  that,  devising  a  plan  to  implement  strategies  to  increase  student  engagement  and  rigor.  

0 When  a  teacher  watches  themselves  teach  and  address  students,  the  effect  is  immeasurable.    Self-­‐assessment  is  a  wonderful  tool.  

0 Numerous  ways  to  use  recorded  sessions  for  best  practices  PD  vertically,  personally,  departmentally,  and  even  with  students.

THINGS  TO  AVOID  0 Poor  planning  in  implementation  of  the  equipment  0 No  teacher  buy-­‐in  or  support  of  recording  their  teaching  

0 Not  enough  staff  know  how  to  operate  the  equipment  0 No  solid  plan  in  place  for  implementation  of  recorded  sessions  

0 Using  the  sessions  for  punitive  reasons  0 Being  ‘big  brother’
