Name of the initiative: Entrepreneurial course

(Educational office/workshop, Party service, Catering, Operating school buffet)

Operator: Secondary and Vocational School for Catering, Trade and Tourism, Tatabánya

Target: Acquiring skills of operating, establishing SMEs

Type of initiative: Development of students’ knowledge and motivation in the field of entrepreneurial mindset

Year: started in 2007

Description of the initiative (1):

•Theoretical education, practical education in groups of students and traineeship at different workplaces

• The various food products made by the students are sold in the school buffet and restaurant

Description of the initiative (2):

• Revenues can be re-invested

• The school undertakes every event and professional opportunity where their students can practice.

(Catering at ceremonies on county or city level, Organizing banquets, weddings, conferences, balls, class reunions)

• In the frame of ‘educational office’ subject the students can simulate the most important elements of an enterprise.

• Virtual entrepreneural competitions on national level

Why was it successful?

• The entrepreneurial course combined with vocational training has become popular among students, more applicants year by year

• Good opportunities to find an occupation after the course, connections with other entrepreneurs

Why is it a Good Practice?

• „Breakout attempt” from an overregulated system

• The school found the gaps in the market

• The school managed to fill in the deficiencies of education

• High local innovative value

What are the weaknesses of this initiative?

• Problems with follow-up

• It does not focus exclusively to the 3D’s

• Transferable only to similar type of schools
