This year we had over 130,000 votes in over 90 categories. Anyone was eligible to vote for as many categories as they pleased. All voting was done online.

We started this contest six years ago as a way for our community to recognize their favorite businesses in a variety of categories. Every year we have had an overwhelming response from the local community and businesses, which helped in the decision to changing the name this year to Best of the Best.

Running from the end of May through the middle of June, readers had a chance to nominate their favorite businesses in every category. Businesses needed to be nominated at least 20 times to be included on the final ballot. Once the final ballot was compiled, community members were able to vote a second time, and from that final round of voting, winners and finalists were determined.

Due to the additional prestige of making it through two rounds of voting, we celebrate the winners and finalists with a Best of the Best banquet. This provides an opportunity for businesses to recognize their employees for the good work they do throughout the year, and includes a gourmet meal, live entertainment, and an awards ceremony.

Want your own business to be listed next year? Ask your customers, clients, and friends to nominate you to be on the final ballot. Missing your favorite business this year? Make sure you nominate them next year when the time comes.
