Building our homeand FuturetogetherHome - what does it mean to you? A place to retreat after work, a place to unwind at the weekend, a place to bring up our children, a place where our parents feel safe and secure? A neighbourhood with food choices, shops and people helping one another? Playgrounds for children, fitness corners, parks and cycling paths. Sports facilities where the athletes of tomorrow find their passion, libraries where the children of today pursue their dreams.

Pasir Ris, Punggol and Sengkang, the towns of our GRC, are all these and more. A great home for all, with many more facilities in store, to meet both the aspirations of the next generation, and the needs of our seniors.

We have seen tremendous change and improvement across the three towns, and there are still some challenges that need to be tackled. Our team is capable, committed, and working hard to make sure that as the towns grow, the infrastructure, facilities, amenities and opportunities to build a warm and comfortable home are in place for all to enjoy. Read on through this manifesto to learn about the plans for our towns.

Yet, a home is much more. It’s about the people. We can’t do this without you. Ideas, feedback and suggestions from the residents are a vital part of improving lives for all. Even more important is the spirit of coming together as a community. The neighbours who look out for one

Through the Town Council, the grassroots teams, and many other organisations, the Singaporeans of Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC are working together with us, to meet the needs of today and shape the dreams of tomorrow.

Our team is both experienced and refreshed. Some candidates have spent many years working to improve the lives of Singaporeans; some are new, young and full of ideas. All have in their hearts a drive, and passion, to serve Singapore, Pasir Ris, Punggol, Sengkang, and you.

Our families are at the heart of our vision.

We are dedicated to providing strong support for both young and intergenerational families. Young families can look forward to more childcare centres and pre-schools to widen their children’s learning horizons. New primary schools are in the pipeline to provide more choices for parents with school-going children. There are also exciting plans for larger childcare centres that will become learning playgrounds for 1,000 children in our community.

New facilities will inspire lifestyle and recreational ideas for both our youths and our seniors. With the redevelopment of Downtown East as well as the upcoming Punggol Town Hub and SAFRA Punggol, there will also be more opportunities for greater family-bonding.

We will also create space for history, culture, religion and diversity for our families. The Old Punggol Road Heritage Trail will retain an essence of heritage.

We take pride in building an inclusive community where we embrace every resident – be it the less privileged, elderly, less mobile or the vulnerable.

The Social Service Office in each town will provide assistance for our residents in times of need. Our Northeast CDC assistance schemes and CCC Welfare Funds have been supporting residents with medical care and financial relief. Project S.U.C.C.E.S.S continues to give hope for better lives. Residents in our community can step up and be a part of our caring society.

New developments like The Punggol Creative Cluster and Learning Corridor and Sengkang General and Community Hospitals will provide more employment opportunities for residents, closer to home.

‘Where We Strengthen Our Social Fabric’

Sian Chay Medical Institution • Provides heavily subsidised or free medical

services and medicine to anyone who walks in for medical consultation, regardless of race, age group, gender and nationality

• Provides consultations and treatments in five special disciplines namely Infertility, Acupuncture for Stroke patients, Oncology, Nephropathy, and Diabetes & Hypertension

• Sian Chay is located at Pasir Ris West Wellness Centre

Punggol Neighbourhood Police Centre• A one-stop community policing centre

providing counter services, the investigation of general crimes, foot and bicycle patrols

• The NPC serves residents of Punggol Town as well as Seletar Aerospace Park

residents as they look for a permanent job

• Interim work experience provides them with the platform to refresh their skills

Project S.U.C.C.E.S.S.• Provides employment assistance

and training services for residents of Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC since 2004

• Works closely with North East CDC to assist our unemployed residents to work under the Community Employment Programme (CEP)

Ministry of Social and Family Development Social Service Offices (SSOs)• With one office each in Pasir Ris, Punggol and Sengkang, the

SSOs reach out to the needy and their families by providing ComCare assistance

• With the offices closer to home, various forms of assistance such as job matching and family services are now more accessible

Project Silver Lining• Brings together volunteers from a younger generation to

connect with the more vulnerable seniors

• In collaboration with schools and the Pasir Ris East Active Ageing Committee, the project is bringing healthcare support that is community-driven closer to the elderly

Fu Hui Link Integrated Community Hub• Located at Compassvale Walk in Sengkang, the

development comprises healthcare and community facilities which cater to both the young and elderly

• Facilities include the Grace Lodge, Grace Child Development Centre, Hearty Care Centre, Wellness Centre,Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic, Golden Care Centre and Grace Home Care Service

Café Corner• Piloted in April 2013, residents can pick up free coffee, tea or

other beverages at the Café Corner

• Gives residents the chance to interact with their neighbours over drinks

• There are 43 Café Corners in Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC

CEP for Active Agers • Provides part-time jobs for residents aged 62 and above

• Participants can work part-time as mobile library assistants, estate inspectors and Residents’ Committee centre assistants doing administrative work etc.

• Seniors can contribute to society and receive basic remuneration at the same time

Remaking Our Heartland • The Pasir Ris Town Centre will include more communal spaces that encourage and support interaction among families, friends and the community

Vibrancy and innovation are here to stay in our towns – Punggol, Pasir Ris and Sengkang.

A new hawker centre in Pasir Ris, the upgrading of Loyang Point and White Sands Shopping Centre, and the construction of cycling paths in Pasir Ris will add flavour to our residents’ lifestyles.

With a bowling centre and a indoor water playground at the upcoming SAFRA Punggol, there are more spaces for lifestyle activities and family bonding. The new Punggol Creative Cluster and Learning Corridor and upgrading of transport facilities are some of the exciting developments springing up in the neighbourhood.

Residents who appreciate sports, nature and culture can look forward to leading lifestyles of their choices with the kaleidoscope of amenities.

Towards A More Vibrant NeighbourhoodA full range of improvement works is set to provide residents greaterconvenience, an enhanced estate and more lifestyle amenities. This encompasses the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme (NRP) which brings with it new drop-off porches, senior citizens’ corners and enhanced landscape areas to benefit residents. NRP will be extended to include blocks built up to 1995, and residents are encouraged to propose other improvements for implementation.

In addition, the upgraded fitness corners, playgrounds, Lift Upgrading Programme at car parks, repairs and repainting works will also add more vibrancy to the estates.
