WOMEN’S MINISTRY EVENT CHANGE We had planned to go to the movies on June 18th as a group. Due to no Christian movies out at this time we have moved our outing to August 23rd to see Overcomer. Plan to join us! More details to come.
We have thirty-one 10-13 year old students arriving from Shanghai, China on July 5. They will be here for a “Summer Camp” experience until July 16. Their purpose in coming is to improve their conversational English and to experience different parts of America. We need host families to help with housing and help to give them the experience of an American family. This is also a terrific opportunity for us to introduce them to Jesus. Most of them have no concept of who God is. For more information please call or text Elizabeth Dawson @ 419-543-1485 or email [email protected].
Dearest Berean Family and Carpenter Class, The family of Bob Rickel would sincerely like to thank you for all of your fervent prayers, calls and cards of encouragement, visits, delicious meals, and the many gifts of love that you showered upon us during Bob’s illness. You blessed our family in countless ways with your love. Thank you for being a part of Bob’s journey with us. We love you all.

Connect Group Questions 6/16/19
1) Empathy is the ability and willingness to connect in a personal manner
with another person’s experience and emotions. Modeled by the Lord Jesus and commanded in Romans 12:15 “Rejoice with those who rejoice; and mourn with those who mourn.” Why do you think this so hard for some people?
2) The clear teaching of the Word is that we are to act and not just “feel”. Proverbs 3:27 & 28; Galatians 6:10; 1 John 3:18. Share a time when someone was genuinely Biblically empathic toward you. What was the immediate and long term impact of their active caring?
3) How did Nehemiah demonstrate/ model his empathy to the hurting/needy people of Jerusalem? 1:4; chapter 5
4) Making critical decisions in a timely fashion is a distinguishing characteristic of spiritual leadership. “The spiritual leader will not procrastinate when faced with a decision, nor vacillate after making it. A sincere but faulty decision is better that weak-willed ‘trial balloons’ or indecisive overtures. To postpone decision is really to decide for the status quo. In most decisions the key element is not so much knowing what to do but in living with the results.” (page 70) “Procrastination, the thief of time, is one of the devil’s most potent weapons for defrauding us of eternal heritage. The habit of ‘putting off’ is fatal to spiritual leadership. Its power resides in our natural reluctance to come to grips with important decisions. Making decisions, and acting on them, always requires moral energy. But the passing of time never makes action easier, quite the opposite. Most decisions are more difficult a day later, and you may also lose an advantage by such delay” (page 118) Spiritual Leadership by J. Oswald Sanders What do you think of Sanders’ perspective? How have you seen the reluctance of leadership to make decisive decisions impact the success of an organization, ball game, family, community, or church?
5) How did Nehemiah demonstrate decisive decision making? 2:4&5; 2:18; 4:9; 4:15; 5:7; 6:8; 7:2; 13:8 & 11; 13:21 & 22 & 28
6) How do you reconcile the example of Nehemiah and many others in Scripture who made significant decisions in a decisive timely fashion with the warnings and instruction in Proverbs 19:2; 21:5; 29:20; 15:22; 20:18?
