When asked what I like most about being a Program Manager at Bentley I usually say it’s that I can help engineers do their work. As an engineer myself I know how much pressure our customers are under to work efficiently and how big a difference Bentley software can make in the way that an individual engineer or designer works every day. Of course, as a Program Manager I get to work with large accounts and help identify opportunities to realize savings and benefits for global companies… that’s all good and interesting, but I get the most personal satisfaction knowing that the people I’ve met trust Bentley to make their lives easier. If you want to be a Program Manager you need to be a self-starter, pretty well organized, and enjoy facilitating team requirements gathering and problem solving. I think most of the other skills like project management and knowledge of Bentley products can be learned but caring about our customers, personal integrity, and enjoying managing teams of people are more inherent traits; if you think you have them then I look forward to working with you soon!

Working with users on small to large projects has allowed me to grow my technical and

I have found that when it comes to work and life, I tend to love a challenge. I guess it’s the adrenaline rush that you get from fearing the challenge but the elation you feel at taking the steps necessary to overcome the challenge and be successful. That would be why I have spent almost 20 years working as a consultant. No project that I have ever worked on has been exactly the same. Of course there are some similarities to them, but when you get a new project assigned to you, you really don’t know what to expect – what role will you play, what will your responsibilities be, what new things are you possibly going to get to learn in the process. These are the things that I love about being a consultant.If asked what I like most about my work as a Product Success Consultant at Bentley, I would have to say the diversity of the projects that we are involved in and the opportunities that each project allows for growing our skills. Every project that we take on is different, our responsibilities as consultants change from project to project and sometimes that means even taking on new product knowledge to implement our solutions successfully for our customers. My greatest satisfaction with my job comes from the customer’s full success in implementing their new systems (or upgrading existing systems), having a full grasp of how they will use their new systems through proper training and helping them use the system as intended.If you want to be a Consultant here at Bentley, you will hopefully enjoy working with customers both face to face and virtually. You should be able to work independently when necessary but also work well in a team setting. You should be willing to wear many hats and take on daily challenges. You should also be comfortable presenting in meetings to facilitate requirements gathering, and have excellent listening skills. A strong attention to detail is needed as you will be preparing a lot of documentation throughout the project. What I like most about my work is the diversity of the projects that we are involved in and the opportunities

that each project allows for growing our skills.

My role at Bentley has always been to work directly with engineers helping them do their job at hand. I enjoying investigating projects and identification of the challenges that they represent. Many times the challenges can seem unsurmountable. But, once we break these down into their individual components solving each part is achievable one step at a time. Early in my career I was tasked with surveying and staking out a flood control project for the US Army Corps of Engineers. I was presented with volumes of technical documents and many rolls of drawings. Looking at all these materials and the large construction operation unfolding in front of me really brought home that digital designs have a real-world consequence. Today, I still apply these same principals by developing step by step project execution plans and helping engineers keeping pace with the maturity of their teams and the scale of the solution. Taking each project step by step, helping teams mature with designs and modeling techniques is very rewarding and I am thankful to be a part of an organization like Bentley where I engage directly with engineering teams working on very complex projects. I look forward to sharing our experiences and insights and will always champion the engineering community.
