number of COVID -19cases, doctors across
the country are also faced withimmense stress. However, resi-dent doctors (RDs) in AIIMShave found their own ways to de-stress. They are engaging them-selves in painting, poetry andtraining health care workers tokeep their spirits high.
Dr Shayan, who is posted atthe ICU, Trauma Centre, AIIMS,says how difficult their life is atpresent. “Stress is unimagin-able. Working in the PPE suitfor six to seven hours is a verydifficult task. You cannotbreathe properly and start feel-ing breathless. You cannot com-municate with other doctors.
You have to literally shout toconvey a message,” he adds.
How does he unwind? He
plays musical instruments andpaints—a lot. “Certain activitiescan reduce stress. This is not aprivilege, but a necessity now,”he says. “I made a sketch whenmany health care workers diedfrom corona around the world.The image of a health care work-er covered in PPE suit carryingthe body of his co-worker haunt-ed me,” he said.
