Lunch Is On Us!

Benvenuto’s opened its doors and was looking to attract new customers. After researching conventional advertising, Benvenuto’s decided to use a less expensive Gift Card Marketing Plan.

Nationwide Payments designed a large preset quantity of cards with a $10 value and randomly assigned a small number of cards with a $50 value. Then Benvenuto’s mailed the cards to local businesses in the area with a message that said, “Come Join Us for Lunch! Card Values between $10 and $50”.

Shortly after the mailing, the restaurant started to see repeat customers and Nationwide Payments received a letter from Benvenuto’s stating “We have tried other marketing ideas in the past, but we have never seen the results as quickly or enthusiastically as we did after sending out those cards.”

Heated Customers

A couple of shoppers at the mall begin getting hungry and decide to dine out. They decide to stop at Spicy Amigo and order some great Mexican food.

The food takes just shy of an hour to get to the table and the customers complain. Instead of giving the food away for free, the merchant gives them a Gift Card to show the customer they want their business back so they can ‘make it up to them.

This prevented Spicy Amigo from giving away the entire meal (including the drinks and tip). The shoppers are happy because they were compensated for their poor experience. Chances are, the next time they visit Spicy Amigo, they will have an enjoyable experience.

Caeine Craze

Robert visits The Mean Bean everyday and purchases a coee; swiping his loyalty card and earning points for his transaction. After several transactions he earns 50 points, and his loyalty card noties him and the clerk that he has earned one free coee!

However, according to the marketing material at The Mean Bean location, Robert knows that if he earns 100 points, then he can earn a free coee mug. If he takes the free coee, he will have to start over because once the rewards are cashed in the point balance goes back to zero. Robert decides to wait, and continue to buy a coee everyday from The Mean Bean until he has earned enough points for the free mug.

Everyone wants to feel that they are getting something in return for the money they are spending. When a consumer has the chance to earn rewards, it makes them more likely to return to your business over a competitor’s. A recent ACNielsen Survey showed 64 percent of Americans said their shopping decisions are aected by loyalty card programs.

Gift and Loyalty Cards are often thought of as just a piece of inventory that is purchased in lieu of a gift when unsure what to get. Merchants often overlook the many benets that electronic gift cards have to oer. When implemented correctly, Gift and Loyalty Marketing Programs can increase protability, improve operational eciency, and strengthen customer loyalty.
