COVID and the FutureWhen COVID hit our City, the Intrepid Museum reinvented itself and took almost all of its free programs online in some sort of virtual setting. These include: free programs for in the classroom, professional development, for families after school, evening programs for astronomy enthusiasts, veterans and their families, sometimes large-scale sessions – even hundreds of STEM learners at one time – and sometimes more intimate, to provide directed learning opportunities for students. Recognizing that kids and families continue to need content-rich experiences during this long winter, we are soon to launch our first-ever virtual Kids Week.

COVID and the FutureThe pandemic has now reduced Intrepid Museum’s earned revenue by 95%, and we realize it could take 5-10 years to recover back to pre-COVID levels. However, as part of our recovery, our commitment to lowering barriers, creating a welcoming and inclusive workplace and Museum to visit, and extending our reach into the community, is greater than ever.

Once we reopen, we look forward to welcoming all to experience the Intrepid Museum.
