Christine and Tim spoke of their recent trip to America where they stayed in Santa Monica before heading to Kentucky for some of their famous bourbon. They then drove from Springfield to Chicago on Route 66, stopping at Pontiac and then on to the Corvette Museum where they viewed the famous sinkhole and the damage that occurred to many of the display vehicles. A visit to the Indianapolis Raceway was always going to be a must. Christine said they had an opportunity to visit the ‘pits’ as well as ‘kiss the wall.’ The holiday wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to the Jim Bean Distillery and being shown how Moonshine was made.

Two sisters, one blonde and one brunette inherit the family farm. Unfortunately after a couple of years they are in financial trouble. In order to keep the bank from repossessing the farm they need to buy a bull from the stockyards in a far off town, so they can breed their own stock. They only have $1000 left.

Upon leaving, the brunette says to her sister, “When I get there, if I decide to buy the bull I’ll contact you to drive out and we’ll bring it home.” The brunette arrives at the stockyard, inspects the bull and decides to buy it. The man says he will sell it for $999. After paying him, she drives to the nearest town to send her sister a telegram to tell her the news.

She walks into the telegraph office and says, “I want to send a telegram to my sister telling her that I’ve bought a bull for the farm. I need her to hitch up the trailer to the ute, and drive here so we can take the bull home.”

The telegraph operator explains that he’ll be glad to help her, then says, “It’s 90 cents a word.” Well, after paying for the bull the brunette only has $1 left. She realises that she’ll only be able to send her one word.

After a few minutes of thinking, she nods and says, “I want you to send her the word - comfortable.”

The operator shakes his head and says, “How is she ever going to know that you want her to hitch up the trailer to the ute and drive out here to take the bull back to your farm if you only send her just the one word, comfortable.”

Then the brunette explains, “My sister’s blonde. The word’s big. She’ll read it very slowly........ com-for-da-bul.”
