Belmont University Summer Winds Band Camp June 10 – 16, 2018 May 13, 2018 Dear Camp Participant, Congratulations on being selected for the Belmont University Summer Winds Band Camp! We are looking forward to having you on campus for an exciting musical experience. Chair placement auditions will be held beginning at 2:00 PM on Sunday at Belmont Heights Academic Building. Audition Information Woodwinds and Brass You will be required to play the following for your placement audition: 1. Major scales up to two sharps and two flats for your instrument. 2. A 2-3 minute excerpt from a solo or etude that you have studied that best represents your ability. If you do not have a solo or etude, you may play a selection of a band piece that you have prepared. There will be no sight-reading requirement for the placement audition for woodwinds and brass. Percussion Please prepare the excerpts for snare, timpani, and xylophone/marimba on the next two pages. Sight reading will be required during your audition, and you may be asked to demonstrate drum set skills if you wish to participate in the jazz ensemble.
