What To Do

Sailing, Kayaking & BoatingBoating is a healthy outdoor activity that’s fun for the whole family. Here in the Bay of Quinte Region we are fortunate to have one of the best places to sail anywhere in the world. Experience the thrill of sailing this summer and enjoy it for the rest of your life. Each summer the Bay of Quinte Yacht Club hosts camps as well as an Adult Learn-to-Sail Program and a Performance Training and Race Program for youths and adults. Kayaking is another great water sport. There are two locations near Belleville to rent Kayaks; Clear Water Design and Kayak-ity-Yak.

GeocachingGeocaching is an outdoor recreational activity fun for the whole family. You can hide and/or seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”. You do this by entering the co-ordinates into a GPS or compatible mobile device and set out on the adventure to find them. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook where you enter the date you found it and sign it with your established code name. After signing the log, the cache must be placed back exactly where you found it. If you want to take something from the cache, be sure to have something to leave behind for the next person to find.

Belleville has over 50 Caches hidden in the city.To get started go to www.geocaching.com

Discover our ancestral land along the shores of the Bay of Quinte. Experience our rich culture and history. Amongst the beauty, you will find a historical presence on the

Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. There is a Cairn in place at the location for the Annual Re-enactment

of our Mohawk Landing (May 25, 2014), on the shores of the Bay of Quinte which originally took place in 1784.

Pow Wow

Another important loca-tion to visit is Tsi tkerhi-

toten Park (jeet-ger-hee-doe-du), meaning “where the trees are standing.” This park is where we hold our annual Pow Wow, but it’s view of the Bay of Quinte and shade trees make for a great gathering place for family picnics and other events. The Pow Wow is taking place on August 9th and 10th, 2014.

Agricultural FairThe Mohawk Agricultural Fall Fair has been celebrated for over 100 years. It is on the same grounds as the Mohawk Community Centre

where community and visitors gather for many events. The Mohawk Fair celebrates agriculture, with a midway,

horseshoe tournament, horse pull and more. The Fall Fair takes place on September 12th, 13th

and 14th, 2014.

To visit Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, we are just 10 minutes south from the Marysville or

Shannonville exits of the 401.
