Director’s profiles
Hervé studied law but started his career in the glamorous fashion industry in Paris, working with some of the world’s most well known fashion designers, Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Lacroix. His search for a new challenge led him to the culinary world and he started his own business – Sirop T – in the South of France creating and manufacturing fine syrups to use in cooking
Hervé VINCENT
Edwige started out in procurement in London, a career that ultimately led her to the dizzy heights of the music industry. She soon grew tired of negotiating on behalf of pop stars and set off back to the land of her birth to conceive and manage Manao, a juice bar and cafe in Nice.
Edwige JACQUEMIN
The scene was set. Hervé and Edwige met through their respective food businesses.
They share a love of all things French, good coffee, French food, little known and
well known artists and of vintage products sourced from French markets.
The space
Hervé and Edwige fell in love with the space on Westbourne Grove - Notting Hill
almost as soon as they saw it. They were taken in by the curved windows and the
acres of potential and after personally undertaking renovations and redecoration on
200 sqm, their boutique was born.
Belleville Concept Belleville is an independent concept store. A niche, dynamic retail experience that
combines several lifestyle themes (boutique, artspace, cafe and deli) in a setting
currently reminiscent of a classic Parisian apartment. The inspiration comes from the
arty district of Belleville in Paris, a collision of food and trend and all things Paris.
Belleville’s logo is a triporteur – a three wheeled vehicle that was an invaluable form
of transport in 20th century France. It represents the unexpected value and beauty in
old things and mirrors Belleville’s intentions to be a box of treasures .
The place is divided in specific sections:
The Artist’s Space
The front section of the boutique is a display space for creations through Belleville’s
collaborations with artists. The Belleville team invites artists to create unique pieces
according to a monthly theme. This area in the shop is the platform for these
individual creations and Belleville has committed to producing limited edition runs of
the products that are interesting to customers. The artists benefit from access to the
raw materials, exposure of their work and income from the sales.
The first of these themed exhibitions starts in July. Belleville has invited twelve artists
to create objects using the iconic French Duralex glasses. The artists designs are
kept secret until they are unveiled on the first exhibition day. Future themes include
cushions , vintage tapestries, and the Eiffel Tower .
Artists who are interested in taking part in these unique events should contact
This is the exhibition space. It will change according to the monthly themes.
The Boutique
The boutique sells a mix of vintage, arty and contemporary objects that will bring a modern style to any interior. The items are sourced from French markets, contemporary designers and manufacturers and guest artists are periodically invited to dress the impressive windows.
Our mix of vintage Limoges porcelaine, Jars ceramics and Duralex glasses.
The Art Gallery
The section at the back of the boutique is a dedicated gallery space where the work
of famous painters and emerging young talent including photographers, fashion and
furniture designers are displayed. This is a dynamic space that will change as
Belleville crosses paths with different artists.
Last month exhibition: Laurent GODARD.
Café & Deli
A large part of Belleville is dedicated to the French café. In keeping with our Parisian
inspiration, we sell classic French café food: croque-monsieur, homemade quiches
and tarts and a selection of viennoiseries (croissants, pains au chocolat) and
pastries. Belleville serves the finest coffee in West London and the Valrhona hot
chocolate is a favourite of many of the clients. Many of the traditional products in the
deli section are sourced from France and include foie gras, pates, a range of
mustards, high quality olive oil and homemade sweet and savoury syrups for
cooking.
Interior Design Service
Hervé and Edwige redecorated two flats in Paris, one of which was featured in an
interiors magazine, the other on national French television. This is an aspect of
Belleville’s offering in London that they are keen to develop.
