Managers play a number of roles that fall in 3 main categories:
▪ Managers perform
ceremonial obligations;
▪ Managers provide
leadership to employees;
▪ Managers act as a
liaison to groups and
individuals
▪ Managers spend a fair
amount of time gathering
information and delevering it
to employees, customers,
suppliers and other
stakeholders;
▪ Managers use the
information they gather to
encourage innovation
▪ Managers decide how the
organizational resources
will be used to meet
planned objectives

▪ Strategic plans outline the firm’s low-range (2-5 years) organizational goals and actions
▪ Develop a clear vision

strategies: Differentiation, Cost leadership, Focus etc)
