Behind the Shutter 1 What Weve Been Shooting DENTON JAZZ FEST The 2011 Denton Arts and Jazz fest was amazing, even though the weather cut it a day short. The weather for Friday and Saturday was gorgeous and allowed for some amazing shows go on stage! Friday, my favorite group was Le Not So HotKlub De Denton, The main attraction that night was a group of former members of the One O'clock Lab band performing in a tribute to professor/director Leon Breeden. The three most note-able performers were Marvin Stamm, who is known as an amazing American bebop trumpeter. Tom “BonesMalone was a member of the Blues Brother and currently is a member of the CBS Orchestra on the Late Show with David Letterman. Did you know that the first permanent” image was created in 1826 by French Inventor, Joseph Nicephore Niepce. Niepce used heliography, which he developed using a camera obscura to burn an image on a pewter plate coated with chemicals. Heliography means sun-drawing”. This technique takes 8 hours and even though it has faded considerably, the image of the countryside at Niecpes estate is still visible on the plate today. One Shot Photography is trying to coordinate an exciting fundraising opportunity for the Denton Animal Shelter. The Shelter has been trying to raise money for a new building. The goal is to take photos of animals from the shelter that have found happy “tails” with their new families, and create and sell a photo book online, with all proceeds going to The Denton Animal Shelter Foundation! Stay tuned as details develop!

The Tex-Mex group, The Texas Tornadoes, is on the way back and I just loved their music. They have dedicated their tour to Freddy Fender, and even played Until the Next Tear Drop Falls, one of my all time favorite Freddy Fender songs!!

EASTER Spring has come, and is more than half done; it seems. Easter was my favorite spring time holiday as a kid! All the FREE candy you could find carry!! Who wouldn’t like that??? I had a fun opportunityto take pictures of a friend’s son
