Where Do I Start As a

    First Time Gun Owner?

    Getting Past the Intimidation

I absolutely love buying new firearms!

There is nothing like going into a gun shop

and looking at the racks and racks of

firearms and purchasing the right one.

However, for the first time firearm owner,

it can be intimidating walking into a gun

shop and looking at the racks and racks of

firearms ranging from pistols to shotguns

to rifles and trying to figure out which one

to purchase. The thing to keep in mind is

that it does not matter if you are a gun

shop owner or an experienced gun

enthusiast; we all were at one time or

    another, a beginning firearm owner.

This e-book is written for the beginner

who is looking to take the next step and

purchase their first firearm. There are lotsof questions that beginners ask when it

comes time to purchasing their first

firearm, and this e-book was created to

answer those questions and to remove

any fears that you may have when you

step into the gun shop. This e-book will

    answer the following questions:

How much should I spend on my first

    firearm?

Should I purchase a handgun, rifle or

    shotgun?

How do I choose a gun shop?

What action should I get for my

firearm? Can I use a concealed carry firearm

    for home self defense?

Should you buy a new or used

    firearm?

    A Big Thank You

Thank you for taking the time to read this

e-book. Feel free to pass this on to your

Magnums. Other people want a firearm

that has lots of capacity such as a high

capacity 9mm which can hold 15 round

    and even more.

    Concealed Carry

Of course any firearm that is used for

concealed carry can be used for home

defense, but not vice versa. The choices

here include a large frame service pistol

or a small frame pistol designed forconcealed carry. Some people do not like

to carry a large frame handgun which is

big, bulky and hard to conceal in warm

weather, and others only carry a large

frame handgun. I can tell you from

    personal experience that small frame

pistols designed for concealed carry areextremely comfortable and easy to

    conceal, even in warm weather.

Sometimes I forget that Im even carrying.

    Will You be Shooting

    Sporting Clays, Skeet or Trap

with Firearm? If so, then you will be in the market for a

shotgun. The most effective shotguns are

    semi-automatic or an over-under. The

    over-under shotguns are the traditional

firearms used in these sports. An over-

under is a break action double barreled

shotgun with one trigger. One barrel sits

over the other barrel, hence the name,

Over-Under. Usually, each barrel has a

different choke (i.e. amount of restriction

that affects the grouping of the shot), so

the first pull of the trigger fires the top

barrel. The second pull of the trigger fires

the second barrel. Once both shells are

expended, the break action lever is

pushed and the two shells are ejected.

The cost of the Over-under shotguns is

    fairly expensive, usually over $1,000;

however in the last several years imports

from Turkey have arrived with a lowerprice tag. I recommend a 12 Gauge

shotgun and to save your shoulder during

long shooting sessions, you can shoot

    low-dram shells.

    Will the Firearm be a

    Showpiece, Safe Queen, or

    Go into a Collection?

If so, then you are more than likely not a

beginner and already have an idea about

what you want to purchase. The sky is

the limit if you are adding this gun to your

collection. If you are a beginner and want

to start a collection, then just decide what

type of collection you want to start and

buy guns that you can add to the chosen

genre. Ask yourself, what type of firearm

or what era of firearms interests you the

    most and start collecting.Question#3WillYoubeShootingSportingClays,SkeetorTrapwiththeFirearm?

    Are You Buying the Firearm

    for Target Shooting?

There are many shooters out there in the

gun world who shoot thousands and even

tens of thousands of rounds each year

who do not hunt. So if you are not

interested in hunting, you can still enjoy

the firearm industry by becoming a target

    shooter.

Once again, there are many, many

options out there for target shooters both

for pistols and rifles. You can essentially

buy any firearm you are interested in

shooting on a regular basis, but there are

some more popular choices than othersfor shooters.

    Rifle Shooting

A lot of rifle shooters generally like to

shoot semi-automatic rifles such as the

AR-15 or AK-47. After hours of shooting,

operating a bolt action rifle can be very

tiring, so a semi-automatic is by far the

easiest to shoot. Traditionally, the full

metal jacket ammunition for these rifles

was fairly cheap but in more recent years

the price of ammunition has skyrocketed.

The AR-15 can be retrofitted with a .22LR

barrel to make the shooting lighter on your

    wallet.

Another type of rifle shooter is the long

range or sniper shooter. These types ofshooters will look for a bolt action rifle and

are known to shoot out to 1,000 yards.

They are more interested in accuracy,

than sheer volume of rounds put down

range. The rifles used for long range

shooting are very specific types of rifles

with very specific types of accessories. Its

best to do more research before buying a

    long-range rifle.

The final type of target shooter is the

plinker. A plinker will shoot any type of

rifle and just enjoys putting rounds down

    range.

    Pistol Shooting

There are two types of pistol shooters, the

first is a competitive shooter and the

    second is the casual shooter.

    Competitive Shooting

This includes the USPSA, IDPA, and

Single Action Shooting. Before buying a

firearm to be used in competitive shooting, you will need to read the rules and

regulations regarding the types of firearms

that you can use in the competition.

    Casual Shooting

This is similar to the plinker, so if this isyour interest, you can buy any firearm that

you are interested in shooting on a regular

basis. You can also double up and use

this firearm for concealed carry or home

    defense if you want.

    Big Thanks from Craig!

    Congratulations! You have

    finished this eBook and

    hopefully you feel better

    equipped to purchase your

    first firearm. Confidence is

the key to making your first

firearm purchase and thisbook is full of knowledge that

    will give you the confidence

you need to make a good

decision. Here are a few final

    thoughts to close out thiseBook.

    People love to argue about

    firearms.

Just remember that people love to argue

about what manufacturers create the best

firearms, why one caliber is better than

    another.

Take these comments in stride and walk

in the confidence that you took your time,

asked lots of questions, and increased

your knowledge and made an informed

decision so enjoy your firearm for many

    years.

People will always find things to argue

about and as long as your firearm fires the

round when the trigger is squeezed and

you can put rounds on target, then you

should be very proud of your purchase.

    Thank You!

I greatly appreciate the fact that you took time out of your day to read this eBook, and I hope that

you learned a good bit about purchasing a firearm.
