SimAngus steers were again dominant in the NSW Beef

Spectacular Feedback Trial for 2016 by taking out Champion and Reserve Champion pen of steers.

This is the second year in a row that Wombramurra genetics has achieved this accolade, and congratulations must go to astute breeders Rob and Kelly Lamoureux for producing the Champion and Reserve Champion pen of steers. Rob and Kelly have been long-time clients of Wombramurra, purchasing a bull at our first Black Simmental sale in 2006, and many more over the years. The winning team placed 4th in the feedlot performance section, and 3rd in the carcase section to be crowned Champion Pen.

Once again cross-bred entries dominated the results and the winning pen of five realised a team profit of $947.95 greater than the trial average, which highlights the benefits of using Wombramurra Black Simmental and SimAngus genetics.

It is pleasing that the key for all cattle breeders to achieve this superior profit has once again been proven. A Wombramurra Black Simmental bull over a British or British/ British cross female will not only result in profitable maximum hybrid vigour but also an overall greater profit because one achieves the optimum balance between daily weight gain and an excellent carcase.

The highlight of the sale came with Lot 30 which was sold to Jim and Sue Robinson for an Australian record price for a SimAngus of $18,000. Lot 30 is by Millah Murrah Right Time F226 and out of Wombramurra E015. The high priced Black Simmental bull, Lot 7 is by TNT Tanker and is out of Wombramurra E202 and was sold for $13,000 which was purchased by David and Ben Wirth.

Thank you to all the successful purchasers and under bidders for making our 2015 sale such a resounding success. The sale averaged $6,810 for 50 bulls, with the 21 Black Simmental bulls averaging $7,880, and 29 SimAngus bulls averaging $6,034.

The 2015 sale exceeded all expectations and has been recorded as our best sale to date.

New sire acquisitions – Bonnydale Augustus L84 & Millah Murrah Emperor K184We are pleased to announce two new sires we have added to our bull roster.

On the back of the outstanding success of Millah Murrah Right Time F226, in September last year we purchased the highest priced yearling bull at the Millah Murrah sale for $20,000.

Millah Murrah Emperor K184 is an outstanding example of the Angus breed, and we are eagerly awaiting his first crop of calves this spring.

In a constant search for outcross Black Simmental genetics, in February this year we purchased Bonnydale Augustus L84 for $24,000 which was an Australian record price for a Black Simmental bull sold at auction. Augustus L84 is structurally very sound a great mover, and will provide genetic diversity within our herd.

This year we will be offering 75 Black Simmental and SimAngus bulls and 30 SimAngus heifers on Wednesday 10th of August starting at 1pm.

As part of our ongoing search for new Black Simmental genetics,

we introduce CCR Cowboy Cut, and MCM Top Grade.

Both new sires have sired many sale topping progeny in the US, and will be represented by yearling bulls in this year sale. Other Black Simmental bulls featuring in the catalogue include – TNT Tanker, Mr NLC Upgrade, CCC Bettis, SRS Right On, Wombramurra Manifest H2125, Wombramurra Upgrade H185 and the 2014 sale topping bull Wombramurra Right On H051.

The SimAngus bulls are sired by Millah Murrah Right Time F226, Knowla Grandslam G29, Wombramurra Africa H088, Wombramurra Nadal H046, and Wombramurra Debonair J012. Once again Millah Murrah Right Time F226 has the largest number of bulls in the sale draft (27), and after siring the $18,000 Australian Record price for a SimAngus bull in 2015 for Lot 30, the F226 sons will again be crowd favourites.

30 high quality EU accredited SimAngus yearling heifers will be offered in pens of 10. The heifers will be 12-13 months old at the time of the sale and ready to join.

Chapman Family NewsAnother busy year for the Chapman’s. Trudy has just finished her EEN Nursing diploma, Charlie and Georgie are boarding at NEGS in Armidale and both are loving it. Charlie was age champion in athletics and is going to the state athletics carnival, while Georgie has been selected in the IGSSA hockey team to play in Sydney. Andrew continues to go to a few campdrafts when time allows and recently won the Open Campdraft at the ABCRA NSW Championships at Big River – Grafton.

2016 SALE PREVIEW

Wombramurra K100 Show resultsCongratulations to Tayla Miller on her wonderful achievements showing Wombramurra K100 at various shows during the year. Some of the highlights for the year include winning her class at the EKKA, and Supreme exhibit at the Muswellbrook Show. K100 had embryos flushed out of her by CCR Cowboy Cut at 14 months which we await the birth of in late July.
