* 95 Club * In future newsletters, this box will recognise and
celebrate those BPS students who have achieved a 95% or greater whole day attendance rate.
We encourage all students to attend school every day that it is open.
Not only does consistent and regular attendance have positive affects on
academic achievement, but school
connectedness and a sense of belonging both
benefit a student’s wellbeing and mental
health.
Principal’s report It has been great to have almost all students back at school; learning and working with their teachers and playing with their friends once again in the playground. Many things have returned to our normal routine, including the reopening of our school canteen yesterday. Once again thank you everyone for your support as we have all navigated through this unusual new situation.
As you are aware, we continue with some new procedures such as limiting non-essential visitors (including parents) onto our school site; no class run assemblies; additional cleaning of high touch areas; staggered school finishing times and some changes to the way students normally play in the playground.
Remember, if you need to speak to any BPS staff please phone the school office or communicate via your class teacher’s email or mobile phone.
Our afternoon pick-up through the Kiss and Drop is working well and we appreciate that you have supported the various requests that we have had over the past few weeks.
Despite not having our class assemblies this term, teachers will continue to hand out Merit Awards once a fortnight at our Friday morning assembly. Unfortunately, parents are not able to be invited to come up and watch these presentations. Photos of each student will be taken for individual class SkoolBag pages.
Semester 1 reports Teachers are busily working on Semester 1 student reports. These will be a simplified version of the report you normally receive. Your child has been assessed during the learning from home period and will receive some additional assessment now that they have returned to school. The Department of Education has advised that student reports can be sent home to parents as late as Term 3 Week 6, however BPS teachers felt that the best for our students and community would be to get them home to parents closer to our usual timeframe, with reports being sent home on Monday 29 June.

Welcome back for another term of P&C. This term things will be a little different for P&C as we now have approval to hold virtual meetings. While we haven't set a date for our first meeting, we are looking forward to seeing how this will make our P&C more inclusive for those who cannot make it to our meetings in person. Once we have locked in a date, we will let you on our Facebook page: Beechwood P&C
I hope all our families are safe and healthy and I want to give a big shout out to the amazing effort put in by the students and the parents/carers during this time of change. Many had to learn/relearn skills that they never thought they would need. So well done, we made it!!
To the teachers and staff of Beechwood Public School, your support and ongoing positivity has been a true reflection of “The Beechwood Way”. From checking in with phone calls, emails and the popular driveway drop-ins to the generous gift of a subsidised coffee, you have shown why Beechwood Public School is the best little school. Thank you, we appreciate you!!
If you would like to join the P&C, please email: [email protected] for more details.
Libby Hamerlok P&C President

Denny's Letter Last month Denny Michael, our student Leader of the Opposition, wrote to Melinda Pavey MP regarding a financial donation for a school water tank.
We have since been advised that Education Minister Sarah Mitchell is happy to fund the purchase and installation of a water tank for our school.
A very big thank you and congratulations to Denny for her initiative and working towards making BPS a greener, cleaner school!

~ BOOSH News ~

BOOSH SERVICE IS OPEN!
At BOOSH, the safety and wellbeing of our families and team members is, and always has been, our utmost priority. We are committed to maintaining that status.
We are also committed to maintaining an element of “normality” and continuance in the day to day functioning of your child’s world so that there is something left on the “other side” for both them and yourselves, when this adverse situation has abated.
Fees As Parents/Careers, you benefit from the COVID-19 assistance child care package and you will have no gap to pay for BOOSH services at this present time. With all the system issues now resolved, statements will be emailed out each fortnight. If you have any queries regarding your statement, Toni will be available to answer any of these.
Attendances We still have spaces available for casual sessions on most days. Please text or call Toni on the BOOSH phone if you wish to book your child/ren in on a certain day. Also remember to notify BOOSH if your child/ren are not attending on their booked in day. This makes it more cost effective and less wastage when preparing afternoon tea for the children.
Pickups As you are aware, there are changes on how your child/ren are picked up from BOOSH, as we keep in line with the Department of Education procedures. No non-essential adults are allowed on site, so at BOOSH we will continue with the parent who is picking-up (child) calling the BOOSH phone on 0457 520 446 and one of the Educators will bring your child/ren to you.
Family Safety & Our Protection Measures We will continue to operate with additional stringent hygiene and safety measures in-place. We have and will continue to undertake rigorous hygiene standards, cleaning procedures and health and safety standards.
Future Update We will continue to monitor the situation with COVID-19 and will provide further updates through our social media page and via email when available.
Our Program We are continuing to follow the Health and Education Departments advice with as much outside open-air time as possible which, with the weather cooling off, we are doing straight after afternoon tea. That way, we can be back inside before it’s too cold.
Our Monday afternoon Homework club will start back in line with the school giving homework and Foodie Friday will still be prepared by staff at this stage.
Look forward to seeing you at BOOSH! Toni, Jodie and Jessie.
