Becoming a Second-Miler

Ephesians 5.1-21 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Purpose of Serving

1. We are to Look like Jesus (imitate) 2. We are to Love like Jesus (walk sacrificially) 3. We are to Help like Jesus (deliberately seek opportunities to

express God’s love).

Jesus’ Second-Mile Model

Matthew 5.41, “And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.”

Definition of a Second-Miler…

Second-Milers are people who intentionally look for opportunities to show God’s grace to others.

Galatians 5.13-1613 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
