Who We Are
PBSO Volunteer Marine Unit #29 is a voluntary member organization comprised of men and women who dedicate their time to assist the boating public, police, coast guard, fire and safety organizations. Every PBSO VM member must pass a swim test, written test and obtain a Florida State Safe Boating Certification before allowed to “Crew” on one of our Patrol Vessels. All our members receive the latest in FWC, State and Coast Guard Training on a continual basis. Many of our members are trained in CPR, Manatee Rescue, some have Coast Guard Captains licenses and many are ex-military. Our primary “Area of Responsibility” includes approximately 50 miles of Intracoastal Waterway through Palm Beach County. Our vessels are assigned to us by the PBSO and contain the latest in marine technology and propulsion. Presently we have five (5)vessels assigned to Volunteer Marine Service in Palm Beach County. Our unit patrols over 250 hours a month.
