The Centrilift Extreme Temperature (ET)ESP system from Baker Hughes is a proven system solution for harsh oil eld environments. Baker Hughes has provided reliable ESP systems in steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) projects since 2004 and we offer the only ESP systems pre-quali ed in our R&D test loops in uid temperatures up to 446F (230C).
The Extreme Temperature ESP system has shown rapid adoption rates in the oil eld due to increased reliability and decreased idle rig time. In less than three years, the ET system install base has increased nearly 1,400%.
Baker Hughes was the rst in the oil eld services industry to offer these two new system innovations: the plug-in pothead and pre- lled motor/seal. In an effort to increase system reliability and reduce costly rig time, the pre- lled motor/seal is serviced in our factory. The plug-in pothead eliminates the need for a eld splice. This further reduces necessary rig time.
The ET system can handle the most abrasives, gas, and steam with the latest abrasion-resistant technology. The MVP multiphase pump design and gas-avoiding intakes offer reliability in horizontal orientations with the presence of gas and steam.
For superior control, the Electrospeed variable speed drive (VSD) operates with a suite of software designed for viscous oil, including MaxStart and MaxPoint software.
With MaxStart software, operators can avoid workovers due to locked pumps, especially in heavy oil and tar sands. MaxStart software integrates a dynamic ESP system model to accurately calculate shaft torque and automatically starts the ESP system by alternating between forward and reversing torque until the pump turns freely. Shaft breakage is virtually eliminated.
The MaxPoint frequency sweep software maximizes production by ensuring minimal

shock to the reservoir by methodically ramping up the pump during startup and rate change events.
The ET ESP system is part of our Centrilift CENtigrade elevated temperature systems family. These system solutions serve the high temperature oil, SAGD, and geothermal energy markets in three categories: High Temperature (HT), for fluid temperatures up to 325F (163C) Extreme Temperature, for fluid temperatures up to 428F (220C) Ultra Temperature (UT), for fluid temperatures up to 482F (250C)
