Ideals of beauty of Ancient Greece and Rome were embodied in the most famous sculptures. The love and beauty goddess (Venus – in Rome and Aphrodite – in Greece) still is considered a standard – from it well-known "formula" 90-60-90 went.

In Ancient Greek mythology Aphrodite was described so: "Quietly there is among wild animals Aphrodite proud of the radiant beauty. Her companion Aura and Harita, the beauty goddess to grace, serve it. They dress the goddess in magnificent clothes, golden hair brush it, crown her head with a sparkling diadem.

Agnessa Sorel, the lady to de Botha, a favourite of France of Charles VII, was considered as one of the most beautiful women in the XV century. To Agnessaattribute introduction of such innovations as carrying diamonds by uncrowned persons, the invention of a long loop, wearing very free dresses opening one breast.

The Neoclassicism period in the middle of the XVIII century marked resetting to old Greek ideals. The beauty of the XVIII century — the woman full and large. Portliness and completeness are considered as a beauty ideal, and artists of the XVIII century in portraits purposely round ladies' forms. Baroque appreciated splendor, and the burden of a dimensional farthingale and heavy brocade could be laid only to a strong body. To the accepted ideals of beauty there corresponded also the relation to appetite: women of the XVIII century ate much, at all it without being confused.

Women actively wear corsets to

support a breast and to improve a

figure. As a whole, the mode of

the XIX century gravitated to

artificiality. All natural, natural

seemed rough, primitive. The

healthy flush and suntan, strong,

strong body were signs of a low

origin. Women should have

considered "wasp waists", pale

faces, delicacy and refinement.

In the XX century of idea of female beauty

changed radically: first, corsets disappeared,

but together with it the figure became

fashionable harmonious by nature.

Nevertheless, if at the dress beginning of the

century conceal a figure more and more, to

its middle femininity gets the best. Ideal

beauty on advantage was considered

Marilyn Monroe.
