Coconut Body Scrub

• 1 cup sea salt (regular will do if that's all you have)

• 1 Tbsp. organic coconut oil (this can be substituted for any oil or even butter (like Shea)

• Enough coconut milk to make the salts a little wet.

I didn't measure the coconut milk but poured a couple of tablespoons or so into the mix. You'll

get a nice wet-ish consistency. Set aside.

• 1 cup kaolin clay (this is the best for sensitive skin but you can use green clay too)

• 1 tsp. glycerin

• Enough coconut milk to make a nice thick paste.

Bring both bowls into your bathroom. Since my bathroom is cold (weather isn't good right

now), I brought in a small heater to heat it. Make sure the bathroom is really warm before you

start. Stand in your tub and wet your body. Turn the shower off, and then use the scrub on your

body using a circular motion, avoiding cuts/scrapes or freshly shaved areas. Do not use this on

your face. Rinse, then pat dry.

Spread the clay mask all over your body. This can be used on your face but I didn't do that. Sit

in your dry tub for about 20 minutes until the mask starts to dry. I found that the parts where I

was sitting, the mask didn't dry as well. If you have someone who can help, wrap yourself in a

dollar-store clear shower curtain, then with warm towels and lay down. I just sat in the tub as

is.

Rinse the mask off, and then pat dry. Apply a nice lotion.

Dry Skin Hand Lotion

Place 3/4 cup almond oil, 1/3 cup coconut oil, 1 tsp. lanolin and 1/2 oz. of grated beeswax in the

top of a double boiler. Heat until everything is melted. Remove from heat and allow it to cool.

Mix together 2/3 cup of rose water, 1/3 cup of aloe Vera gel, 2 drops of rose essential oil and the

oil from one capsule of vitamin E. Pour this into the first mixture and whip with a hand mixer

until thickened and the consistency of mousse. Store in a container in a cool place.

Beeswax Hand Lotion

Heat 3 tbsp. of grated beeswax, 1 tbsp. of lanolin, 4 oz. of light sesame oil, 2 tbsp. of brewed

chamomile tea, and 1 tbsp. of coconut oil, 1 tsp. honey and 1/8 tsp. of baking soda in a double

boiler until everything is melted. Stir to mix well and decant into a jar with a lid. Cool

completely before use.

Palm Oil Hand Lotion

Put 3/4 cup of palm oil, 2 tsp. of stearic acid and 1 tsp. of emulsifying wax into a microwave-safe

dish. Microwave until melted. In another heat-proof bowl, combine 1/2 cup of distilled water

and 1/2 tsp. of borax. Microwave this until boiling and the borax is dissolved. Use an electric

hand mixer to whip the oil mixture into the water mixture, pouring in the oil slowly while the

mixer is running. Keep whipping until it is cool, and then add the oil from 2 vitamin E capsules

and 10 drops of an essential oil for fragrance. Gardenia, ylang ylang and lavender are good

choices. Allow the mixture to sit for several hours and it will thicken.

Quick Moisturizing Olive Oil Hand Lotion

Combine 1/4 cup of pure olive oil, 1/4 cup salt and 1/4 cup granulated sugar and mix well.

Massage into hands and rinse off with warm water. Store in a tightly-closed container, and

shake well before use.

Gather ingredients. Fragrance can be found in many scents (strawberry, lavender, blueberry,

etc.) at stores such as The Body Shop or a craft store. All you will need is a few drops so one

bottle will last for a long time.

Eyes… From your temples, glide your index fingers over your brow and circle your eye sockets.

Steam your face to encourage the removal of wastes, improve skin hydration and loosen dead

A gentle scrub is baking soda. If you want acne to be fixed, try uncoated aspirin (usually can

Squeeze of lemon

Cut the avocado in half. Remove the pit and place it aside. Place 1/2 of the avocado in the fridge

making sure to wrap it up. Place the other half in a salad and enjoy. Let the pit dry out for a day

or two and then mash it up by hand or with a blender. It should break up in small pieces. Mix

the avocado pit with the 1/2 that was in the fridge along with the mayo and squeeze of lemon.

As good as this may sound to eat, it's for your feet. Avocado helps to prevent calluses while the

1 tablespoon of unflavored gelatin

1 1/2 tablespoons of cold milk

1 egg white

Vitamin E Oil (breaks open a capsule, or buys in a bottle)

In a small pan mix the unflavored gelatin and the cold milk. Stir until melted over a very low

flame. Once melted, remove from heat and let the gelatin mixture cool slightly. Then add one

egg white. Mix until smooth, and when cool enough to touch, apply evenly over face. Do not

apply on or directly under, your eyes or on your upper lip. Apply quickly before mixture

hardens in pan. Apply enough to cover your skin but not too thickly. Lie on the couch and let it

dry completely, about 30 minutes. Once dry, lift up a corner under your chin and peel off lightly

in an upward motion. This will really tingle. Rinse face with lukewarm water and apply

vitamin E.

Tip: The vitamin E is for moisture. If you prefer, you can use your favorite moisturizer on your

face instead.

Prune Porridge

This mask sounds and looks disgusting but is very soothing and good for a face tormented by

sore underground pimples.

Pour 1/2 cup boiling water over 2 dried prunes in a bowl and leave until soft. Mash prunes. Use

(but not hot), leave 20 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

2 cups water

1 1/2 Tbsp. dried soapwort root (chopped)

Bring water to a boil add soapwort and simmer, cover for about 20 minutes. Remove from heat,

Yucca Shampoo

Native American tribes in the Southwest have used Yucca to prevent hair loss and dandruff.

The Yucca plant contains a substance called saponin which is a natural detergent. It is the

saponin found in the Yucca Plant that creates foamy suds when agitated in water. Yucca is

own version of Yucca Shampoo, look for fresh young Yucca plants. Cut off a piece of the root

and peel the brown off of the root until you have exposed the white root inside. Once clean,

take a hammer and smash the Yucca root until it breaks in pieces. Wet the Yucca root, while

holding the root over a basin of warm water; rub the root like a bar of soap to get mounds of

lather from it. Wash your hair with the lather for a few minutes, gently massaging the scalp.

Rinse very well in warm water making sure that no Yucca pieces remain in your hair.

2 Tbsp. aloe gel

Few drops essential oil

In medium pan, stir the water and spices and herbs and simmer for 15 minutes. Cover and let

seep for about 30 minutes. Strain the liquid. In a blender, add 1 cup of the herb liquid with the

aloe gel and blend on low speed until smooth. In a glass bowl, blend the soap and the

remaining liquid. Whip with a wire whisk until smooth and frothy, and then add the liquid

from the blender. Pour the mixture into containers of your choice and add the scent last, a few

drops to each container. Shake to disperse the scent Shampoo will last for 1-2 months if kept in

a cool dry place.

Clarifying Shampoo

An inexpensive way to clarify your hair is to use your usual shampoo. During the first lather,

take a handful of baking soda and work it into the lather thoroughly. Let it set for a few

minutes, depending on how much styling buildup you have on your hair. Rinse and shampoo

again without baking soda, then condition. The baking soda makes an excellent chelating aid. It

is also advisable to clarify at least every two weeks to remove product buildup. Always clarify

before doing a deep conditioning treatment. Otherwise, you will be conditioning over product

buildup which really won't be beneficial. Chelating also removes traces of prescription drugs

that build up in your hair.

2-4 drops of ylang ylang essential oil

The ylang ylang essential is used to give a special relaxing and soothing effect. Not only does

this magnificent oil calm and soothe raw nerves and emotions, it is famous as a softening agent

for skin and scalps. Mix all ingredients and apply with paint brush. Wrap hair in saran wrap or

shower cap and then apply hot towel. This can be a wet towel that you have wet with hot water

from the tap or a towel warmed in the dryer or microwave. Leave on for one hour or can be left

on overnight if applied one hour before bedtime so it dries somewhat on hair. Rinse with warm

water and apply hair rinse, if desired.

Tropical Conditioner

1 avocado (peeled and mashed)

coconut milk

Combine mashed avocado with some coconut milk. Mash together until its smooth and about

as thick as shampoo. Comb it through the hair and let sit for 10 -15 minutes, wash out.

Dry and Breaking Hair Conditioner

Before washing or even wetting hair, put about 1/6 - 1/4 cup of olive oil (closer to 1/6 for shorter

hair, and closer to 1/4 for longer, thicker hair) on it and work it through from the scalp to the

ends. Leave it on for about 10 or 15 minutes. After that, you can shampoo and condition as

Kinky or Curly Conditioner

For people with really kinky, curly, dry ethnic hair, try this for a deep conditioner:

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup olive oil

1/4 cup bland oil (either grape seed/almond/sesame)

Put in a little pot, heat it until warm. Apply to hair, put a plastic bag over your hair and leave it

for 30 minutes. Wash and condition as usual. The result; hair feels soft and moisturized. You

can forgo the bland veggie oil if you want to, but I find that it helps the honey and oil to 'flow'.

Or, you could try and investing in some jojoba oil and follow the same instructions for deep

conditioning above. Jojoba oil contains the same sebellum as our skin, so it conditions without

weighing hair down.

Sage and a Bit of Rosemary Natural Hair Color

To make a strong rosemary and sage tea, use equal amounts of rosemary and sage to 1 cup of

water. Combine ingredients and steep for 10 minutes. Strain and refrigerate it, use liquid for the

colorant. Now before washing hair, spray it on the base of the grey patches of hair, massaging it

in. Leave it for 5 - 10 minutes and then wash as usual and care for your hair as you normally do.

After a few weeks of this (do this almost daily), you will find the grey is disappearing. After

using the sage, the normal coloring returns to the hair. It is not a 'color-change' shocker, and it

Use honey-water instead of hair spray. I just rinse out a small plastic spray bottle, add about

two tablespoons of honey to the bottom of the bottle, fill the bottle with hot water, and shake

well. I store the mixture in the refrigerator, and I've found that it will keep for about two weeks.

I would suggest that you use the mixture sparingly, and that you completely clean the bottle

and spray mechanism every time you make a fresh batch. It works well on my long, straight

hair and it seems to keep my dry hair moisturized too.

Lemon Hair Spray

This great for light hair but can be used on any color hair

2 lemons, sliced

2 cups hot water

Place lemon slices and water in pan and bring to a boil. Immediately reduce heat and simmer

uncovered until the water is reduced by half about 30 minutes. Remove and cool. Strain

Removing Extra Hair

Body Sugaring is a natural way to remove the hair that you don't want from your body.

Basically, you are making a cooked paste out of white sugar and other ingredients that you will

spread on your legs and, using strips of cloth, removing the hair. You will need a stove and pot

to cook the sugar mixture in and an old sheet to cut up into strips or a couple of yards of cheap

broadcloth from Wal-Mart. The strips can be used again by washing in a lingerie bag in your

washer.

Use a fairly large, heavy pan because the sugar will foam up as it boils. Mix the ingredients in

The mixture will turn an amber color as it cooks. Take it off the heat, let it cool a bit and pour

into a container. A wide shallow one works best - if you have a tall container, the paste tends to

get all over the stick. When cooled, it should be quite thick.

To use the paste, either microwaves it (careful-it heats up fast) or boils some water and let the

jar sit in the hot water for about 5 minutes. Be sure to test the temperature *very* carefully

before you put a lot on your skin. Test a bit on the palm of your hand where the skin is a little

thicker and tougher. Use a craft stick, like a tongue depressor, to spread the paste. The paste

works best when it is very warm, it spreads thinner that way.

Take a bit of paste on the stick and spread it on, as thin as you can, in the direction of the hair

growth. Put a strip on the paste and press it on firmly. Pull the strip off against the direction of

the hair growth. Be sure to hold your skin taut, and pull the strip directly back, not up. You can

use the same strip a couple of times. To clean up, all you need is soap and water. You can cream

your legs after with a good natural lotion

Enough coconut milk to make the salts a little wet.

I didn't measure the coconut milk but poured a couple of tablespoons or so into the mix. You'll

get a nice wet-is consistency. Set aside.

Coconut Clay Body Mask

1 cup kaolin clay (this is the best for sensitive skin but you can use green clay too)

1 tsp. glycerin

Enough coconut milk to make a nice thick paste.

Preparation:

Bring both bowls into your bathroom. Since my bathroom is cold (weather isn't good right

now), I brought in a small heater to heat it. Make sure the bathroom is really warm before you

start. Stand in your tub and wet your body. Turn the shower off, and then use the scrub on your

body using a circular motion, avoiding cuts/scrapes or freshly shaved areas. Do not use this on

your face. Rinse, then pat dry.

Spread the clay mask all over your body. This can be used on your face but I didn't do that. Sit

in your dry tub for about 20 minutes until the mask starts to dry. I found that the parts where I

1. Prepare the mask. Cut the papaya in half and scoop out the seeds. Scoop out the papaya fruit

and mash it well to eliminate lumps in the mask. Beat the egg until it is frothy. Combine that

with the papaya. Add the pumpkin to the egg/papaya mixture and whip together. You can also

mix the ingredients in the blender or a food processor for an extra smooth mask.

2. Prepare your face. Wash with your daily cleanser and remove all residual makeup on your

skin. Rinse with warm water. It's very important to have clean skin to ensure you get maximum

benefits from the facial.

3. Apply the Mask. Cover your entire face, being careful to avoid the immediate eye area. If you

have sensitive skin, test the mixture on your hand before spreading it on your face. You'll feel

some tingling as the enzymes in the pumpkin go to work immediately -- gently exfoliating your

top layer of skin. It works like a scrub without being abrasive to your skin. Leave the mask on

for 10 minutes.

4. Rinse off Mask. After you've relaxed for ten minutes it's time to rinse. The mask is fairly thick

In a double-boiler, melt 1/2 tsp. Macadamia Nut oil, 1/2 tsp. jojoba oil, 1/2 tsp. lanolin and 1/2

tsp. Cocoa butter until it is liquefied. Add 1/2 tsp. of dried Chamomile flowers and stir gently

for about 10 minutes. Strain the mixture with a very fine sieve into a small Pyrex ramekin and

clean the area of the double boiler where you had the mixture (Dry the area well). Pour the new

strained mixture back into the double boiler and reheat. Add another 1/2 tsp. of lanolin and 1/2

tsp. of beeswax shavings. Heat and stir until liquefied completely. Remove from the heat and

pour into a 1/2 oz. amber or cobalt container. This is enough for personal use. To use on dry

hands, or to give as gifts, you'll want to double or triple this recipe.

This is a very soothing formula that has real "staying" power.

The best way to use this masque is while sitting in the tub because it is a bit messy. Apply to

the entire face, neck and shoulder area. As it sits, keep applying more while you build the

masque up as well as massage it in. Let sit for at least 10-15 minutes and then remove with a

warm washcloth. Finish with a tonic or hydrosol on a cotton ball to remove any excess product

from the skin, then moisturize as usual.

This is a wonderful softening and firming treatment in one.

To Use: Spray your hair with this mixture whenever necessary. Since it is gentle, with not

alcohol or chemical additions, it can be used on children's hair too. Should be made fresh every

few days and kept in the fridge between uses.

Tip No. 1: One cup of the Lemon Hair Spray can be preserved with 1 oz. or more of Bay Rum.

To make: Into a water bath or the top of a double boiler put the oil and the wax. Heat until the

wax is dissolved and then remove pot from the fire. Add the Rosewater slowly, beating all the

while, and beat until it is cool. At this point add the essence of Rose a drop at a time, if you like.

Beat the creamy lotion until cold, pour into a bottle and store away for use.

To use: This lotion makes an excellent Rose Cold Cream to remove old grimy dirt or makeup.

Simply apply with clean fingertips and remove with fine tissue. Then you might take a

teaspoonful of cornmeal in each palm and rub the hands and face well with it. Rinse with warm

water and then cold. Pat the remaining fine film of cream into the skin for night-time

smoothing.

To Use: This makes an excellent everyday cream that can be used under makeup or as a

Pour the Almond Meal and Jojoba oil into a 4 oz cobalt or amber glass jar (preferably). Stir

well. Then mix in the Honey and Peppermint essential oil. Keep stirring until the mixture is

completely mixed.

To use: Cleanse the skin first. Apply about a teaspoon amount of the scrub to a moistened

face. Mix with water to make it a more fluid application (do not add water to the jar). Scrub the

skin gently, letting the almond meal do the work (harder pressure will only damage

capillaries!). Massage every square inch of skin except the delicate eye tissue. Remove with a

warm washcloth. Be careful to remove every bit of the scrub. Apply a tonic or hydrosol with a

To Make: Bring water to a boil and pour over the Marigold and Chamomile flowers. Cover

and set aside. Mash the carrots, add wheat germ oil. Strain out the liquid from the flowers and

add them to the carrot-wheat germ oil. Mix thoroughly and add the lecithin granules. If you

have a blender, blend it finely. The texture can be changed with the addition of Almond oil;

To Use: Wash face. Steam clean it for a few minutes with one of the steam mixtures. Apply a

HENNA INFORMATION & TIPS/HENNA RECIPE FOR HENNA TATTOO

Henna is a Persian word, which describes a small flowering shrub (Lawsonia inermis). It is

found all over the world, including India, Pakistan, Morocco, Yemen, Iran, Afghanistan,

Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Egypt and Bangladesh. However, the variety of henna plant varies from

region to region. Different plants have different coloring properties and hence, the color of the

powder also varies. Henna has been used for thousands of years, for its medicinal properties

and cosmetic properties. Apart from this, it is also used for coloring and conditioning the hair

and in the form of body art.

Henna powder, in its pure and natural form, is a bright or deep green, khaki or brown. The

color produced by pure natural henna ranges from orange to red, to black cherry and near black

color. Contrary to the popular belief, pure black color is not produced by natural henna

powder. Talking about its production, henna powder is made from the leaves of the henna

bushes. When manufactured in large quantities, the leaves are taken to the factory and machine

grounded. Normally, henna powder is made by blending different types of henna leaves from

different parts of a country or from different countries.

Once the leaves have been grounded, the powder is sifted. This is because, if not sifted, the

henna powder will contain pieces of the leaves. The finely sifted henna powder contains no

leaves, making it best for cosmetic use. Henna powder colors the skin, when the dye is released,

skin. Hanna, when applied to the body parts such as hands, arms, legs, near the naval region

and at the back, is called mehndi. For a simple mehndi design, it may take about 10 to 15

minutes, but if you want to go for an intricate design, you might need to invest several hours.

After application of henna, you need to dab it, with a lemon-sugar solution when it becomes

firm on the skin. This is essentially done to preserve the paste. Unlike tattooing and piercing,

henna does not hurt, because it is applied on the surface of the skin with an applicator and not

injected into the skin. Traditionally, a cone is used for making the designs. However, mehndi

can also be made using a bottle, with a fine silver nozzle tip. People enjoy the cooling sensation

felt after the application of mehndi. This aromatic mixture, apart from conditioning the skin,

gives a natural soothing effect.

Henna has, today, become a part of all major festivals and celebration. Be it, Purim, Eid, Diwali,

Karva Chauth, Passover, Nowruz or Mawlid, it has graced every occasion with its presence.

Celebrations like wedding, birth of a baby and birthdays seem to be incomplete without the

For henna powder to release the dye you will have to make a paste of the henna powder with

water or lemon juice. There are a number of things that can be added to the henna powder to

make a paste that will stain your skin or hair the color you desire. Most people follow a trial and

error method and finally come up with a recipe that suits their needs. Given below is a basic

henna paste recipe, you can try it out and add to it to suit your needs. To make henna paste or

mehendi

1 cup boiling water

2 tablespoons black tea or coffee

3 tablespoons of sifted henna powder (make sure you sift the powder before making a paste)

1 teaspoon eucalyptus oil

Lemon-Sugar Glaze

Strained juice of ½ lemon

1 teaspoon sugar

Boil the water and add the tea or coffee powder and make a decoction. Let this decoction soak

for a few hours. Strain the decoction to remove any particles of tea or coffee. Place the henna

powder into a plastic or glass bowl and add eucalyptus oil. Now slowly add the tea/coffee

decoction a little at a time and stir the mixture. Use the spoon to press the powder and water

together. Make a smooth paste of the henna powder. Allow the paste to stand for 6 to 12 hours.

The longer you allow the paste to stand the smoother the mixture will become. Now apply this

paste in any design you want and wait till the mehndi is dry, but not cracking. Take a cotton

ball and dab a little lemon-sugar glaze to keep the henna moist. Keep the henna on for as long

as you want.

After you remove the henna paste design from your skin, try not to wet the area for as long as

possible. It is best to leave henna overnight. Using lemon-sugar glaze will ensure that the

mehndi stays overnight. The less you wash the colored area of your skin the longer the design

will last. If the colored skin is constantly touching water then the color will fade quickly.

Applying lotions or creams will cause the design to loose color. A henna tattoo cannot be

removed; it will have to fade off on its own. The color may last on your skin for two or three

weeks or longer.

MISCILLANEOUS BEAUTY TIPS

To remove puffiness from the eyelids, massage a drop of very fresh castor oil on to

them.

To cool your eyes, make eye pads using thick slices of cucumber. Another option is to

use cotton pads soaked in cold milk. Lie down and place them on your closed eyes and

relax for a while.

Putting a drop of rose water into each eye just before you sleep can also refresh you

eyes.

To prevent your lips from chapping, use hot water fermentation on your lips and then

apply a mixture of vaseline and honey. Apply this mixture about three times a week.

To prevent your lips from drying you can use a ground mixture or rose petals and milk

butter.

To delay age spots on your hand, use a piece of lemon and rub all over your hand,

before washing. This will delay onset of age-spots.

If you have no time to shampoo your hair before going out, then brush 1 tablespoon of

talcum powder or corn flour through your hair. Try this out first when you are not in

hurry to make sure that it works the way you want.

To prevent hair loss you should have a biotin rich drink. Blend bananas with honey,

yogurt and low fat milk. Drink this for a few weeks.

While blow drying and setting your hair, blow-dry at hot on the roots of the hair. Roll

your hair inwards or outwards at the ends. To improve the setting make sure the ends

are evenly rolled in or rolled out. Heat the hair for a second and then let it cool. This

process of setting the hair will last longer and make your hair look beautiful.

To condition your hair, after shampooing your hair take some conditioner on your palm

and rub it with both hands. Apply from the hair shaft moving downwards. Do not apply

on your scalp. Rinse your hair after 5 minutes.

To add extra shine and glow to your hair add 2 tablespoons of malt vinegar. Use it as a

last rinse and towel dry your hair.

BODY PIERCING AFTER CARE

How To Care For Body Piercings

If you have recently pierced yourself, the wound would be new and so

application of any astringents, creams, and ointments on the piercings is not

advisable.

Keep your piercing away from any bodily fluids like saliva and semen. This will

also protect the piercing from developing any infection.

Neither you nor anyone should touch the piercing for the first few days.

At least for a month or so do not take off your body piercing. The piercing needs

to be healed completely.

To avoid scarring of the tissue, do not clean the pierced area of the body with

alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. Also, do not use petroleum jelly as it can lead to

the growth of bacteria.

Do not wet the piercings by submerging them in water. If you want to swim or

soak in a tub then first cover the piercing with a waterproof bandage.

If you have pierced your tongue or lips, then stay away from eating any spicy

foods. It is also better to stop smoking or chewing tobacco, at least until the

piercing gets healed.

Stay away from direct sunlight as well as tanning oils, lotions, and sand.

Do not try to over clean the piercing as it can delay the healing process.

Also avoid drugs and too much of coffee.

Keep the pierced area free from cosmetics and sprays.

Cleaning The Body Piercing

Wash your hands with an antiseptic lotion, then soak a cotton ball in warm water

and gently wipe away any dirt that has gathered around the pierced area.

If the piercing is new, then rinse it with warm water several times and then dry it

with a paper towel. However, if the piercing is a couple of days old then you can

rinse it with anti-bacterial or anti-microbial soap water. Then rinse several times

with warm water and then dry with paper towels.

Rotating the piercing around is also a good way to clean the jewelry as well as

the pierced area. However, do not do it if it still pains on touch.

Apply tea tree oil in the piercing. The oil soothes the irritation and also refreshes

it. Dilute one to two drops of the oil in a cup of water and apply it on the pierced

area.

You can also soothe the new piercing by soaking it in saline solution.

Another excellent way to clean the piercing is to use sea salt soaks. In a

disposable cup, take a pinch of sea salt. Now, add hot water to it. The water

should be as hot as you can stand. Then take the cup and if possible invert it over

the piercing. Or you can also soak a cotton ball and hold it against the piercing.

After 5 minutes soak a new cotton ball and then apply it to the area. Then rinse

with warm water and dry with a warm towel

TATOO CARE

How To Take Care Of Tattooed Skin

After getting the tattoo done, ensure that the artist dresses the tattoo properly.

The tattoo must be wiped and cleaned and then, using a cotton ball, antiseptic

ointment must be applied to it.

Wrap the tattoo in bandage. You should keep on the bandage on for at least 2 to

4 hours. This will protect the skin when it is the most vulnerable. The dressing

will also heal the tattoo faster and prevent scabbing.

Do not re-dress the tattoo after removing the original bandage as you may trap in

the dirt, which can lead to infection. That is why, it is better to let the tattoo artist

do the bandage.

The tattooed skin must be cleaned every few hours. When the tattoo is getting

healed, fluids will be oozing out. Wipe off this fluid with a clean cloth.

Always keep the hands clean before touching the tattoo to prevent any chances

of infection.

The tattooed skin must be kept moist to assist the healing. Moisturizing also

helps in preventing scars by keeping the scabs from falling too early. You can

also use ayurvedic ointments and lubricants.

Lubricants also keep the tattoo clean and shiny by preserving the ink colors.

Make sure that the ointments and lubricants do not produce any allergic

reaction. And also avoid the scented ones as most likely the scent chemicals can

cause irritation in the skin and also delay the healing process.

Apply the lubricants more often to prevent the fresh tattoo from drying out. If

you notice the tattoo is starting to dry then apply a coat of lubricant over it.

After a week of getting the tattoo, you can use the normal body lotion.

After getting the tattoo done the skin may start itching. Do not take recourse to

scratching or scrubbing the tattoo as it can lead to the peeling of the scabs. Scabs

will fall of naturally when the skin is healed completely. In time, a layer of skin

will develop over the top of the tattoo and then the itching will also stop.

Initially the tattoo color is very susceptible to fading so it must be protected from

the water and the rain.

Before taking a shower, bandage a plastic wrap over the tattoo. If the tattoo is big

or you cannot put a bandage to it then avoid taking a bath for the first few days.

Instead, wipe your body with a wet cloth. Also, avoid water with chemicals.

Cover your tattoo from the sun as it can lead to fading or drying.

1/2 tsp. olive oil

1 Tbsp. natural unbleached flour

Gently crack and beat the egg in a small bowl. Eggs are perfect skin care ingredients for

people with large pores, or those who want to firm and tighten wrinkles. Egg yolks are

made from albumin, which gently dries the skin and refines pores. Egg whites help

soothe sunburned or windburned skin, and gently remove oily residue.

Step 2

Add the olive oil and flour. In this case, the flour is used to thicken the consistency of the

facemask. Olive oil is a fantastic way to balance the drying effects of the eggs. Unlike

petroleum jelly, heavy lotions and other oils, olive oil will rinse cleanly away, leaving

In a soap dispenser or reused bottle, combine 1 Tablespoon liquid castile soap, 1/4 Cup of

honey, 1/4 Cup of water, and 1/4 Cup of olive oil. You may add a few drops of essential oils if

desired for fragrance. Essential lavender oil works well for homemade soaps.

Oftentimes people who make Olive Oil soap will add other oils to it rather than making pure

Olive Oil soap. This depends on the desired quality you want in a soap. For example, if you

want a soap with a rich, bubbly lather, you would benefit from adding Coconut Oil. If you are

looking to make a creamier soap, adding Canola Oil would work. I prefer to use a combination

of Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, and Canola Oil. However, you can make adjustments as

necessary if you plan to either make pure Olive Oil soap, or if you only want to use two or three

of the oils. Use your own preference and judgment, but you should have a total of 50 ounces of

oil altogether. Since Olive Oil Soap is made with several edible ingredients, rather than

shopping for supplies in a craft store, you may find some of the ingredients in your grocery

store.

Step 2

The first thing you want to do is gather all of your supplies and have them easily accessible.

Measure all ingredients so they are ready to mix.

Continue stirring the oils while you now pour the lye mixture into the oil. Stir continuously

until the soap mixture "traces." To test for "trace," dip a spatula or spoon into the mix and let a

bit of it dribble back into the pot. If it leaves a little bit of a "trace" or small "mound" of soap, it

has traced.

Step 8

You can now add your French Vanilla fragrance to the soap but continue shirring quickly so

you can get the fragrance mixed in before the soap begins to solidify.

Step 9

Now pour the soap into the mold(s) and cover with a towel.

Step 10

The soap needs to remain undisturbed for at least 24 hours. You will know if your soap is ready

when there is no oil sitting on top of the soap and the soap is firm. If the soap is not firm or has

FEET SOAK RECIPE

For the Feet:

mix 1/4 cup of sea salt to a bowl or pedicure style basin filled with hot water.

10-15 drops of your choice of essential oils can now be added, here are a few suggestions:

LAVENDER: Lavender is my first choice for the feet, especially if you are suffering from

athlete's foot or any other foot condition. Lavender is also a great antiseptic and purifier. It

relaxes and has a wonderful aromatic quality. Add 10-15 drops of Lavender Oil.
