ACI "Nutrilife" Promotional Campaigns goes Viral in Dhaka
In a sales-boosting effort from ACI Pure Flour Limited, the
company launched an extensive promotional campaign for
the products under the brand name of "Nutrilife". The
products under "Nutrilife" include Rice Bran Oil, Multigrain
Atta and Low GI Rice, all of which are rich in high nutritional
values. The campaign commenced from the month of
September, 2013 at "Rabindra Sharobor" beside Dhanmondi
Lake around 6:00 am in the morning, in order to mingle
with the joggers there, introduce the products to the
potential customer and explain the special health benefits of
Nutrilife products to them. These products were also in offer
for sale at attractive discount prices to the joggers at the
park. Each and every product was sold on the very first day.
Bolstered by the success of the first day, APFL decided to
continue with the campaign every Friday morning in
Dhanmondi. The joggers seemed
highly satisfied with the personal
interaction between themselves and
the personnel of APFL and also with
the products and their prices.
Furthermore, owing to the growing
popularity of Rice Bran Oil, APFL has
introduced a 5 liter SKU of the
product. This 5 liter PET bottle is
priced reasonably and therefore is attractive to those
customers and their families who buy in bulk. Since the
products under "Nutrilife" are somewhat unique to the
palate of average Bangladeshis, their attributes are needed
to be brought to the attention of the customers. So, APFL
launched an intensive marketing strategy to place trained
Promoters in selective Super Stores all over Dhaka for the
month of September. These superstores included Meena
Bazaar, Shwapno, Unimart, Prince Bazaar and Saad Musa
Centre. The promoters were placed in their respective
outlets so that they could explain the numerous benefits of
Nutrilife products to the walk-in customers and convince
them to buy those products. The overall response was grand
and the sales volume, particularly that of Multigrain Atta
and Rice Bran Oil went up considerably. APFL wishes to
prolong such marketing efforts as long as it takes to make
ACI "Nutrilife" a household name all over Bangladesh.

used in those recipes. Recipes were carefully selected by keeping in mind that those should be nutritious at the same time
tasty. Many internationally recognized recipes were in the list.
To make the program more interactive, a special facebook fanpage was created where all the recipes were uploaded. In

Agribusinesses Activities
ACI Agribusinesses signed a
Memorandum of Understanding with
the world's leading multinational agro
business company, Syngenta
Bangladesh Limited on 23 July 2013
with an aim to support mechanized
transplanting services in Syngenta's
rice integrated solution program
'TEGRA'. Dr F H Ansarey, Executive
Director, ACI Agribusinesses and Md.
Sazzadul Hassan, Managing Director,
Syngenta Bangladesh Limited signed
the agreement on behalf of their
respective organizations at
Syngenta's corporate office in Dhaka.
Mr. Subrata Ranjan Das, Business
Director, ACI Motors, Mr. Ziaur
Rahman, TEGRA Rice Program Leader
from Syngenta, Bangladesh and Engr.
Asif Uddin, General Manager, S&PD,
ACI Motors were also present in the
ceremony. Through this project, ACI
Motors will enter into a new business
segment of Contract Farming through
full mechanization support from
Cultivation-transplanting-harvesting
and post harvest processing.
Mechanization has been the feature of agriculture during the last
decade in Bangladesh. There has been a notable increase in the
use of different tractors and power tillers. Besides, the practices
such as direct sowing, zero-tillage or minimum tillage and the
establishment of cover crops has been revolutionary in protecting
organic matter, soil moisture and soil fertility. Significant increase
is being observed in the use of seeding, weeding and threshing
agro-machineries.
ACI Motors Ltd. has revitalized the process of mechanization
through the introduction of Versatile Multi-Crop Planter (VMP). ACI
Motors Ltd. is the first company to bring the technology in
Bangladesh. Through the technology, cultivation and sowing of
seeds are possible simultaneously. The planter fits with any kind of
power tiller of 12-16 horse power. Since sowing of seed and
implying of fertilizer can be done at a time, the productivity
increases. The machine can easily measure the distance between
columns. It can also determine the quantity of fertilizer and seed
implied in the cultivation process. Most importantly the planter is
not expensive and easy to fix.
Versatile multi-crop planter helps farmers to reduce cost by saving
the excessive use of seed, fertilizer and most importantly, time. It
takes only two hours and 2.5 liters of fuel in sowing and cultivating
33 decimal of land simultaneously. The planter will help to provide
the cultivation suited to land and crop. The work rate of the
farmers will increase as well when cultivation, sowing of seeds and
implying fertilizer can be done at a time. The machine can be used
with strip tillage, single pass shallow tillage, zero tillage, bed
planting and conventional tillage. Cropping of paddy, wheat, maize,
soya bean, jute and different types of pulses etc. is possible by
using the planter.

ACI Fertilizer has given Soil Tester named "Fertometer" to field force for
promoting the products more perfectly. The Fertometer measures the
level of nutrients in the soil of plants. It indicates the soil status through
showing green, red or yellow light. The green light indicates the
fertilization is suitable for the soil. The red light indicates that fertilizer
should not be added in soil and the yellow light indicates that fertilizer
should be added as early as possible.

Brand promotion
Promoting of Bumper Folon (4-CPA) in Summer Tomato
Summer Tomato is a specialized crop for summer season.
Farmers invest more on this crop cultivation with an expectation
to get more return. Bumper Folon (4-CPA) is a specialized
product for Summer Tomato which is used on new flowers for
preventing the flower dropping and ensuring the fruits from each
flower. ACI Fertilizer has taken an integrated effort through
retailers and farmers training program and conducted several
result demonstrations in the field. The farmers of Bagarpara,
Jessore have got tremendous result of Bumper Folon and they
are very happy to get the quality product.
Promoting of Sulphur 90% (Granular) in Amon Rice
Amon Rice is the main crop in this season and considering the
crop opportunity, ACI Fertilizer did major promotional activities;
such as farmers' meeting, retailers training program, DAE
meeting in September on Amon Rice. ACI Fertilizer is giving
more focus on Sulphur 90% for Amon Rice. Field force
conducted more than 100 result demonstrations of Sulphur 90%
in Amon Rice for replacing the technology against Sulphur 80%.
The key benefit of the product is that the plants can uptake
Sulphur throughout the entire life cycle as per need because of
product's chemical compound.
Partnership Program in Char
The Char area of Jamuna & Tista river is very potential for crop
cultivation. But due to lack of proper cultivation method and less
use of new technology; farmers do not get expected return and
hence their livelihood is not improving. Thus, ACI Fertilizer has
decided to do promotional program with ACI Seed and Crop Care
through the support of SwissContact; one of the leading NGO's in agriculture for transferring the new technology to the
farmers to increase the agriculture production. The areas include Char of Jamalpur, Sirajgonj, Bogra, Gaibandha, Rangpur,
Nilphamari, Kurigram and Lalmonirhat. Feasibility study has already been done in Bogra & Kurigram and farmers meetings
have been organized where farmers expressed their encouragements.

"ACI Commercial Paper" - A Milestone Achivement in
Bangladesh Money Market
ACI has gained a milestone achievement by issuing "ACI
Commercial Paper". This is the first corporate Commercial
Paper in Bangladesh. The product, "Commercial Paper" (CP)
can be a good choice amongst the non-conventional
borrowing/core Treasury products. Though this product is
not being practiced in Bangladesh and the debt market has
not been developed till now, it is widely used in the
developed economy. ACI Treasury has successfully
launched it in Bangladesh money market after a long
debate, discussion and persuasion with different
stakeholders in the market including Bangladesh Bank.
Issuing "ACI Commercial Paper" is an addition to ACI's
pioneering role in introducing new products in the money
market like the example of ACI 20% Convertible Zero
Coupon Bond that we introduced few years back.
By definition, CP is an unsecured Promissory Note with a
fixed maturity - to be paid back to the investors with
interest. The customers or buyers of our CP are mainly
Financial Institutions, Mutual funds and other non-financial
institutions. The primary objectives for us to drive CP in
Bangladesh money market can be attributed as follows:
l Money market is lacking varied products. This will be a
new concept in Bangladesh and will therefore, develop
and broaden the market. ACI name will be remembered
for bringing new product in the market.
l For us it will reduce our dependence on traditional bank
financing.
l The most exciting benefit for us is the reduced interest
rate.
The closing ceremony was organized recently at The
Westin, Dhaka. Mr. SK Sur Chowdhury, Deputy Governor,
Bangladesh Bank was present as the Chief Guest. Dr. Arif
Dowla, Managing Director of ACI Limited, Mr. Ali Reza
Iftekhar, Managing Director of EBL, investors and key
management personnel of ACI and EBL were also present.
The Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank appreciated the
efforts of ACI for being the pioneer to bring CP in the
market. He termed CP as an important instrument for the
growth and development of financial markets. Mr. SK Sur
Chowdhury hoped this good initiative will undoubtedly
make the stakeholders think and strive for the betterment
of the financial markets and also make them interested to
invest in such alternatives.
Dr. Arif Dowla urged upon all concerned to work
passionately for development of the financial market of the
country to tap the enormous growth potential of
Bangladesh.
