welcome to be local
why be local? As small business owners, we understand
how hard it is to stand out in a crowd. This
publication was created with the idea that
there is power in numbers. If we work together
as small, local businesses, we can all afford
a high-quality, alternative advertising option
that is both created and distributed by local
businesses. Be Local/Shop Local is all about
promoting and supporting locally-owned,
independent businesses. It’s about making
your hard-earned money go further, fueling the
local economy, and helping to preserve the
unique character of our community.
Make a difference. Shop local.

featured advertiser scenic Brew
Scenic Brew is not your average coffee shop. Would an average
coffee shop have their own unique pastries made daily just for them by Sweet Flours Bake Shoppe? Would an average coffee shop offer live music on most weekends? In fact, Scenic Brew is nothing less than a spectacular coffee shop.
After commuting to and from work on the north end of Helena, owner Kelley Williams realized there was a need for a great coffee shop in that area. Then he realized the perfect location for a coffee shop was on the corner of Custer and Sanders Streets. Not only was the perfect location in a growing retail center, but it had a convenient drive through for all those people
commuting north of town. Guided by his love of coffee, Williams sought out the finest Italian beans, established a unique outdoor décor within his shop, and now Helena cannot get enough.
Some unique offerings found at scenic brew include the “pour over” coffee. Though it takes a bit longer to brew, this method is second-to-none for those seeking the perfect cup of coffee. Another goal that Williams had when he started the business eight months ago was to create a pastry that included “everything good about pecan pie and apple pie combined.” After a collaborative effort by Williams and Sweet Flours Bake Shoppe you can now savor the goodness of the “no-name” pastry exclusively at
Scenic Brew. Another unique item is the house recipe chai made with scratch ingredients to-order, as well as the smoothies and frappes to please any connoisseur.
Williams prides himself on adapting to his customers. During final exams, they kept the shop open until midnight and brought in food provided by Murry’s Restaurant downtown to give students a place to study and relax. Live music can be heard most Friday and Saturday nights, and Scenic Brew has become a place for regular date nights, baby showers and business gatherings. Offering a comfortable alternative meeting place is one of Williams’ goals. “A place to call your
own” is how he likes to describe his business.
Scenic Brew is a local, veteran-owned business. Williams is proud to work with Montana Supporting Soldiers to donate coffee to the troops with the help of customer donations. A military discount is also offered to customers from any branch of the military.
No one can miss the love of coffee, as well as the goal to set higher standards, at Scenic Brew. You will find a unique environment and a quality product in a great location. Support local business and stop in or visit the drive through window at Scenic Brew today.
