BDL Management is a leading UK hotel management company for both branded hotels as well as unique stand alone properties. Specialising in developing and managing hotel assets for owners, we have built 30 hotels and presently run more than 30 hotels in locations across the UK.

BDL has long-established relationships with Global Brands such as Wyndham Hotels, Intercontinental Hotels Group and Best Western.

Partnering IHG, BDL has developed and managed hotels from the limited service Holiday Inn Express, the mid market Holiday Inn, the extended stay Staybridge, the four star deluxe Crowne Plaza brand whilst exploring development of the boutique Indigo brand.

BDL has partnered Wyndham Hotels Group in developing and rolling out the new and exciting lifestyle brand – Ramada Encore in the UK.

What makes BDL unique is the ability not only to manage branded hotels, but also to maximise hotel revenue and quality within the independent hotel sector. BDL presently manages a number of independent hotels across the UK.

The BDL portfolio has benefited from aggressive sales, efficient cost control and quality service to ensure the hotels lead their markets and ultimately deliver strong trading performances.

This market leadership has resulted in BDL’s appointment by Anglo Irish Bank and Dunfermline Building Society to manage 19 distressed hotel assets in their name.

Our in-house team have developed 30 new build hotels and overseen a number of refurbishment and extension projects.

Our team is split into divisions according to hotel type, with a Divisional Director supported by a Financial Controller in each area of the business. The Divisional Director ensures central support services are delivering to each hotel with measurable impact.

Delivering Hotel BrandsBDL has a track record of delivering global brands. Choosing the right brand for the location, negotiating the franchise agreement, interpreting the brand standards and maximizing the ‘System’ resources is where the BDL team adds great value.

Establishing Independent HotelsDelivering a global brand takes a special skill, but to create brand awareness for unique stand alone hotels is even more challenging. It requires an understanding of the local market, resources at hand, the skills to create and deliver a unique brand and finally a passion for success. BDL has a successful portfolio of independent hotels. These include the iconic Bedford Swan, the Langstone near Portsmouth, the Landmark Dundee and the exquisite Princes Street Suites in Edinburgh.

Revenue Maximisation – market leading resultsMaximising revenue requires a well developed sales, marketing and distribution infrastructure. Brands do not, as one might expect, deliver all of the business a successful hotel requires. Hotels also require additional local sales and marketing support and a well developed planning and implementation process.

BDL has a National Sales and Marketing team covering all areas of the market. This provides the portfolio with the support needed to maximise the opportunities of revenue generation.

Profitable Operations – ensuring profits are maximisedAlongside the monitoring of a hotel’s performance against budget and forecast done through regular business and sales reviews, BDL carry out extensive monthly benchmarking exercises. This ensures all hotels within the portfolio are performing in line with the best managed hotels.

BDL offers a range of contracts from standard turnover and profit contracts, to equity joint ventures. BDL is in a position to offer skills in property development as well as all aspects of hotel operations.

Our Own Brands

A hotels restaurant offering or leisure facilities can set it apart from the competition. That’s why at BDL Management Ltd, we’ve developed our own F&B & leisure club brands. We tailor these brand developments to each hotel and the local market place. The Quad Club Health and Fitness was launched successfully in association with four times Olympic Gold Medal Oarsman Matthew Pinsent and has been launched in several locations in England.

BDL has also developed several critically-acclaimed and award winning restaurants, including the Docklands Bar and Grill and Wok Around the World in London and SQ Bar and Grill in Belfast. We know what makes hotel guests happy and will work to deliver the right offering for your hotel audiences.

Ross Morrow - Property & Development DirectorHaving joined BDL in 2000, Ross has been responsible for BDL’s development. He is a Graduate Architect, Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Builder, with wide ranging technical skills. He is also responsible for facilities management, project management and procurement for BDL.

Louis Woodcock - Chief Executive OfficerHaving founded BDL is 1997, Louis has steered the group to major success over the last 10 years. Louis has served as Chairman of IHG’s influential, ‘UK Owner’s Committee’ and on the IAHI Board for the EMEA region.

Stuart McCaffer - Corporate Finance DirectorInstrumental in raising over £500 million of equity & debt finance for BDL, Stuart has successfully overseen hotel portfolio & single asset deals. He has excellent relationships with Europe’s largest funders & private equity houses.

Stewart Campbell - Chief Financial Officer Prior to joining BDL in 2003, Stewart worked with Pricewaterhouse Coopers gaining exposure to both listed companies and owner managed businesses in a broad spectrum of industries.

Neil Taylor - Chief Operations OfficerNeil has worked in the hospitality industry for over 25 years and has held several senior positions at BDL. He joined BDL in 2000 with vast experience of opening and operating hotels across various IHG brands.

David Thompson - Non Executive DirectorA founding shareholder of BDL, David spent most of his career with Hilton Hotels. Holding the positions of Operations Director and Managing Director of BDL while overseeing its expansion, he took up a non executive position in 2007.

Nikhil Gupta - Sales & Marketing DirectorNikhil joined BDL in 2002 and is responsible for Sales, Marketing and Revenue. He is currently Chairman of IHG’s UK Marketing Forum and sits on both IHG’s Global Distribution and Sales & Marketing Committees.
