I had the pleasure of visit ing the kids and staff at the Easter Seals Camp in Winf ield this month. Craig Moore, Jeremy Hanke (both Directors for the BCSF) and myself (Director for the BC Provincial Snow Show) were greeted by the amazing Camp Hosts/Directors Marlene and Rick Harker as soon as we arrived. They took us on a tour of this wonderful facil ity and we were invited to stay for lunch. Jeremy signed autographs for the kids as he is featured on the cover on the Mountain Sledder Snowmobile Magazine. The kids were in total awe that that was him on the cover. Craig was in his glory as he really is just a big kid at heart. As for myself , I think I was almost speechless. This place is the place I dreamt about. You see, I was only 17yrs old when I was diagnosed with cancer.

Visit ing Camp Winfield -

After all the surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy, I dreamt about a place where we could go as a family to recover from the whole life changing process. Unfortunately, due to all the f inancial costs and loss of work for my parents, it just wasn?t feasible. So we carried on in life. The Easter Seals Camp is place where kids can be kids and parents know they are completely safe and looked after. The parents are always welcome but let?s be honest, every parent needs a break once in awhile. After spending a few hours, I left truly humbled by this place

and especially by Marlene and Rick. Their generosity and caring, huge hearts are needed in this world now more than ever. I wish I had had the experience to go to a place like this after going through an il lness. Everything feels right in the world when you're there...you can see it in all the kid?s eyes, they sparkle? .

The Vernon Snowmobile Association unanimously agreed that all the money from the BC Provincial Snow Show (Nov 25th & 26th, 2016) admission goes to

Snowarama, which then goes to the Easter Seals Camp. The $13,090 we donated from the 2015 Show helped build a new roof on the theater outside. Money that is also raised will help the kids that can?t afford to attend this beautiful place.

On August 7th 2016 the Easter Seals Camp is having their Annual Open House. They would like to show the public, fundraising groups and volunteers where all the f inancial assistance goes to support this Camp. Go and check it out! The

kids will be putting on a play and they are having a BBQ too. Also the Snowmobile Clubs have all been invited to attend the AGM meeting held Oct 1st 2016 at the Easter Seals Camp Winfield. Hope to see you all there!

Summer Safety UpdateBy Craig Moore

3) Do you make sure your equipment is well maintained and have a spark arrest on your equipment? Is this important? YES! As the weather is starting to warm up and everyone loves riding through the trees and grass land areas, we don't want to start f ires everywhere and shut down riding areas, so let?s be smart out there!

4) We all want you have fun, be safe and come home to your loved ones, but this falls on you. Do you need that beer or other substance to drive and have fun?!? Think before you drive folks!

5) Never RIDE by yourself and always let someone know where you?re going and when you?ll be home.

Please drive safe in the designated areas, put your campfire out "WELL" and 100% cold before leaving it.

Firef ighters put their l ives on the line to save forests so you can play and camp in these areas. Also, make the right decisions out there when playing on the trails as Search and Rescue also put their l ives on the line to save you, these folks have FAMILY too.

Please have fun in the right way and be safe this summer. Click here for more info on How to Survive in the Woods

Thank You,

Craig Moore, BCSF Director Region 6

Hello everyone!

Hope all is well and everyone is enjoying their summer.

We here at the BCSF would like to share some safety tips and friendly reminders. I know you?re in summer mode but this isn't about snowmobiling. Most of you quad, side by side or dirt bike. Well some questions and tips I have, are:

1) Are you prepared to stay overnight if something happens? Simple things like a f lat t ire, breaking down or getting stuck can and will force you into that situation.

Get prepared! Bring a tarp, matches, an axe, food and water plus an extra coat and clothes, RADIO or SAT PHONE and there?s lots more examples here:

Outdoor Safety for Recreational Activit ies

2) Do you have the proper gear? DOT helmet, footwear, riding pants, gloves and so on. Click the link below to f ind out more:

Beaver Mountain

Cleans House

"It was hard work and a good

t ime"

You may not realize it, but as we are all enjoying our summers; t ime-off from the daily grind; enjoying time with our families; and creating sun blasted memories to keep us warm in the winter, there are volunteers out there working their buns off to get prepared for next sledding season! Our clubs amazing volunteers are out there gathering f ire wood, doing cabin repairs and upgrades, replacing trail signage and much more!

The dedicated people of the Beaver Mountain Snowmobile Association gathered together to do a major clean-up of their Bombi Summit Parking Lot! Their incredible efforts included removing nearly 15 years? worth of nails from burnt pallets; three 20 litre pails o' nails to be exact! They also f il led and covered 19 holes from f ire pits. Members supplied bobcats, shovels and f loor magnets to tackle the mess. And the ladies put on a spread of pulled-pork sandwiches, and awesome chili for lunch. They worked tirelessly from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and accomplished a mountain of work by working together.

Ask YOUR club how to volunteer today!

AboutThis is about my journey to my new normal. It is far too soon to truly understand what my new normal is going to be but I will f ind comfort in sharing this journey. 2016 was supposed to be the best year of mine and Nick?s life. We were supposed to get married and we were going to

start trying for children after our wedding in October. On February 20, 2016 Nick passed on to a place I hope to someday see him again and my life completely changed. This is the journey to

my new normal.
