The Baylor School Distinguished Scholars Program (DSP) was created to attract the

very best boarding students from around the country to a school committed to helping

them realize their full potential. Since its inception, the DSP has provided full or partial

boarding scholarships to young men and women who demonstrate significant promise

to contribute to the overall life of Baylor, both inside the classroom and out.

This booklet explains more about the type of students we’re looking for and the process

they will follow to apply for and, perhaps, win one of these prestigious merit-based

scholarships. If you are a student who meets the criteria – or if you know one – please

contact us. It may well open the door to an extraordinary educational opportunity.

The Distinguished Scholars Program rewards meritorious rising 9th grade

boarding students with four-year scholarships. Each year, one full-tuition

scholarship is awarded along with one half-tuition and two quarter-tuition

scholarships. The awards cover all tuition, room and board as long as the

student maintains an exemplary performance in and out of the classroom.

The scholarship is intended for students seeking academic challenges and

a wide range of opportunities outside of the classroom. Nominees will be

expected to have exhibited leadership skills and to have made a positive

contribution to some worthy group or cause.

singers and scientists. They have gone on to college at Harvard, Berkeley,

North Carolina, MIT, Georgetown, Sewanee, and Stanford among many others.

They have hailed from Colorado to Connecticut and Indiana to Texas. They

have been male and female, reflecting diverse personal backgrounds and world

views. What they have had in common are academic aptitude, the desire to

achieve excellence, and the passion for self-discovery. They have left their

The Baylor Experience.

Set on the banks of the Tennessee River, the Baylor campus boasts buildings

that date back more than a century, but it’s the programs and people that

make Baylor a premier boarding school. A rigorous curriculum, a significant

selection of extracurricular activities, an outstanding faculty, and a network

of dedicated and involved dormitory faculty and parents create a boarding

experience that is both challenging and nurturing. Moreover, the real-world

dynamic of boys and girls learning and working together advances the

school’s mission of developing capable leaders who have both the ability and

the desire to make a positive difference in the world.
