INTRODUCION AND FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION The GPS+GPRS device hereby described, made in the USA and widely adopted thereby by tracking applications, allows to extend localization coverage to trailers, containers and other movable assets lacking own DC power source (e.g: small boats or motorbikes, machinery, etc.). The device periodically transmits GPS position through GPRS network (and others too) with configurable frequency. When the device detects movement, the frequency gets switched to a different value, configurable too, and keeps using such new frequency until the movement ends. Its key characteristics and strength, besides high quality design and construction, is the very long battery autonomy . This varies considerably according to usage conditions; in the (limit) case of daily transmission frequency combined with usage of lithium batteries, battery life can extend to over three years . It employs two standard off the shelf C-size batteries which can therefore can be easily procured and replaced anywhere. The device is dimensioned and shaped in a way that can be laid between the “ribs” of the roof of a standard freight container. There is one IP64 compliant version available (i.e.: water, dust and chemical agents resistant) for critical outdoor usage conditions. Customizations of the unit can be evaluated upon request on a case by case basis. The software functions to process data received and present them in different reporting views (including automatic control and notifications features) can alternatively be: supplied remotely by Traceland in the form of online “ASP” service, taking advantage of the existing OkiTracki application (for shipments tracking combined with fleet localization); supplied as an installable stand alone software package by Traceland be developed directly by the end-using customer, if and where applicable and preferred. Notice: besides the hereby described device there are other devices models of different types available upon request to manage fleet localization. All of them imply permanent availability of 12/24 DCV power supply, and contain extra features including I/O pins for connection too vehicle on board computer, sensors, antennas, etc.

PRELIMINARY NOTE: The present documents is an attachment to main OkiTracki

solution data-sheet. The device is currently (August 2008)

under evaluation and is likely to be soon integrated into

OkiTrack application.

INTRODUCION AND FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

The GPS+GPRS device hereby described, made in the USA and widely adopted thereby by

tracking applications, allows to extend localization coverage to trailers, containers and other

movable assets lacking own DC power source (e.g: small boats or motorbikes, machinery, etc.).

The device periodically transmits GPS position through GPRS network (and others too) with

configurable frequency. When the device detects movement, the frequency gets switched to a

different value, configurable too, and keeps using such new frequency until the movement ends.

Its key characteristics and strength, besides high quality design and construction, is the very

long battery autonomy. This varies considerably according to usage conditions; in the (limit) case

of daily transmission frequency combined with usage of lithium batteries, battery life can extend to

over three years. It employs two standard off the shelf C-size batteries which can therefore can be

easily procured and replaced anywhere.

The device is dimensioned and shaped in a way that can be laid between the “ribs” of the

roof of a standard freight container. There is one IP64 compliant version available (i.e.: water, dust

and chemical agents resistant) for critical outdoor usage conditions. Customizations of the unit can

be evaluated upon request on a case by case basis.

The software functions to process data received and present them in different reporting

views (including automatic control and notifications features) can alternatively be:

• supplied remotely by Traceland in the form of online “ASP” service, taking advantage of the

existing OkiTracki application (for shipments tracking combined with fleet localization);

• supplied as an installable stand alone software package by Traceland

• be developed directly by the end-using customer, if and where applicable and preferred.

Notice: besides the hereby described device there are other devices models of different types

available upon request to manage fleet localization. All of them imply permanent availability of

12/24 DCV power supply, and contain extra features including I/O pins for connection too vehicle

on board computer, sensors, antennas, etc.
