Alpha Battery continues to take the lead during the month of June. The battery has maintained a strong partner-

ship with our Field Artillery partners in UAE. The Emirates have valued our section chiefs’ mentorship while

they conduct crew certification on the HIMARS launcher and the Resupply Vehicle (RSV). Our battery also

conducts HIMARS demonstrations for all VIPs that come through Camp Redleg. Lastly, we conduct Digital

System Sustainment Training (DSST) throughout the week in order to maintain our mission readiness.

We used this month to establish our foundation as a battery during the deployment. We have received more Sol-

diers from Camp Buehring and quickly integrated these members of the unit into the camp. Our unit has done an

excellent job of getting Soldiers into the battle rhythm at Camp Redleg.

Soldiers continue to impress by completing a variety of tasks needed to

sustain the camp.

The Assassins would like to congratulate SSG Norville, SSG Nussbau-

mer, SSG Nunez, 2LT McFarland, and 1LT Norman for doing an excel-

lent job with our UAE partners. They have provided HIMARS demon-

strations and lectures to 18 UAE HIMARS crews. In addition, SSG

Norville and SSG Nussbaumer received coins from MG Gary Cheek for

their ability to increase the capabilities of our partners, as well as their

performance as SHARP representatives for the Battery and Battalion

respectively. We also congratulate SSG Garrett for winning the Assas-

sin of the Week after conducting crew certification with our partners.

His professionalism and skill played a tremendous part in improving relationship with them.

SGT Dickson and several others in the battalion have taken the lead to help establish the Fight House on Camp

Redleg. They have spent countless hours setting up tents, generators, ECUs, and other equipment to ensure that

people have a place to relieve some unwanted stress, and also improve their Modern Army Combatives Program

techniques.

Lastly, SGT Whigham and crew conducted a fantastic demonstration for MG Cheek allowing him to shoot a dry

fire mission from the launcher. He had a great time working alongside the Soldiers of Alpha Battery.

Thank you and all your families for their support and we wish you a wonderful summer.

Never a dull moment here in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this past month. Bravo Battery continues to welcome

Soldiers and NCOs from Ft. Sill and Camp Buehring, Kuwait as visa and passports get processed and complete. Every Soldier

makes a huge difference to the mission here on Camp Redleg. June has been a busy month as the Battery continues to train and

improve our Security Forces capabilities, but also has begun refresher training on the HIMARS Launchers. This tough training

has given Soldiers an excellent opportunity to show what they are capable of, and each week we are selecting an outstanding

Soldier to represent the Battery to the Battalion as the Bravo Battery Warrior of the Week. So far in June, SGT Jonathan Martin,

SPC Rajeshwar Maurya, and SPC Edward Cowell were all selected as outstanding Soldiers who went above and beyond their

normal duties and supported the team and the mission.

Every Wednesday night this month, Bravo Battery

and its Soldiers have supported 1-14 FAR by coordinating,

executing and supervising ranges to enable the rest of the Bat-

talion to zero and qualify on their M4 or M16 rifles. The ranges usually run from about 1900 in the evening to 2AM the next

morning. Our Soldiers are showing the Battalion that Bravo Soldiers are able to execute any mission that they are given, even

when that mission may run most of the night. Obviously when working hard, Soldiers also need a chance to relax. In June,

Bravo Soldiers were invited to attend a British entertainment show (similar to a USO show) with a comedian and a live band. A

couple of weeks later, Soldiers were treated to a pizza dinner, by the battery leadership, to give them a break from the Dining

Facility for at least one night. More Soldiers were provided an opportunity also been given the opportunity to go to the Austra-

lian area in order to play some volleyball. Bravo Battery Soldiers beat both the Australian and British Security Forces volleyball

teams three times now, more than any other of the coalition. We are determined to continue this winning record and include

more Soldiers in the weekly sporting competition.

This past month has seen several Soldiers demonstrate their dedi-

cation to the Blackhorse and Army family. SGT Jonathan Martin, SGT

David Cody, and SPC Edward Cowell all decided to extend their service

contracts, demonstrating their personal courage, and commitment to the

team effort here in UAE, and dedication to the US ARMY.

Thanks to all the Families for the unconditional, unending sup-

port that you send to the Soldiers of Bravo Battery. As the temperatures

here continue to climb, and the days continue to feel longer and longer, the

comfort and reassurance that you provide through care packages, letters,

emails, phone calls, and prayers keep us going. Not a single Soldier goes

a day without thinking about his or her family back home. You have

much to be proud of in each Soldier here, and we will continue to do eve-

rything we can to serve proudly. Thank you again for your support.

Phoenix Warriors and Family,

We continue to support the mission overseas and are elated that two months have already passed.

Many improvements have occurred and will continue to occur at Camp Redleg. Last month, the

kitchen and the latrines were upgraded which provided a huge morale boast for our Soldiers.

New gym equipment is currently on its way. I know many of our Soldiers are looking forward to

more intense and efficient workouts. We also had the grand opening of the Coffee Shop, which

was very exciting.

Your Soldiers are ecstatic about the upcoming trips that are being planned to Dubai. This is a

great opportunity for them to experience a new culture and take a break from their daily duties.

I hope that everyone on the home front has enjoyed all the photos that we have been able to send

home. Please keep in mind that there are local security limitations on taking pictures. We will

continue to do our best to supply pictures of the ones you love and miss.

I continue to encourage you all to participate in the various FRG activities. It is wonderful for us

to see pictures our families engaged and providing support for us. This deployment will be much

harder without your support. Thanks for all you do!

In the past few weeks, the LNO Outlaws have maintained a steady pace in training, even with the increased movement

of Soldiers to join their fellow Camp Redleg Soldiers in UAE. The LNO cell has successfully supported operations in the

United Arab Emirates, providing both supplies and additional Soldiers. Outlaw Soldiers have managed to adjust to life here at

Camp Buehring, Kuwait and continue to have high morale while pushing forward in carrying out their tasks.

The Outlaw’s counterpart here at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, is Alpha 2-20 FA. They were able to conduct a live fire

and partner with the Jordanian Army for Operation Golden Lances III. The mission showed the unit’s ability to train and mentor

in any environment by firing and training with the Jordanian Army. With their recent return back to Camp Buehring, the Rene-

gades continue to work diligently at equipment transfers and turn ins. The Renegade Soldiers continue to have high levels of

motivation as their return date to Fort Hood, TX quickly approaches.

The Soldiers, still training under the LNO cell, have continued to face every training opportunity head on, fully fulfill-

ing the 1-14 Field Artillery’s value of “War Fighting Focus”. The Soldiers have stayed motivated by conducting multiple train-

ing sessions with weapons simulators, vehicle rollover simulators, as well as sexual harassment awareness and safety briefs.

Outlaw Soldiers have also been able to enjoy multiple morale, welfare, and recreational opportunities including a recent trip to

the 360 Mall and Maritime Museum in Kuwait. There have been numerous 5K/ Holiday Fun runs and the recent development of

a Saturday volleyball tournament; which received strong participation from all of the LNO Outlaw Soldiers. Bravo Battery Sol-

diers in Kuwait were also able to celebrate the re-enlistment of SPC William Kerley with the Camp Buehring Fire Department.

Although missing loved ones constantly, the LNO Outlaws have continued to adapt to deployment life. They are fo-

cused on accomplishing the tasks at hand and returning home safely to their friends and family. Thank you to all of those back

on the home front for the love and constant support of our STEEL WARRIORS!

tion may be passed to you via a phone dialing system, there will be a recorded message for you to hear. The number for the sys-

tem is 281-207-4890. Please put this number in your phone so you will understand it is not a salesman trying to get you to buy

something.

There are some exciting events that the batteries will be doing in July. Bravo will have a 4th of July pool party to cele-

brate the day. If you do not know the address, please contact Kristen or Bobbie so they can share the information. Alpha Bat-
