Not that it was a fast run home, just a general quickening of pace over the 6 rounds of play. Charles, John and Georgina McMahon, together with Sebastian Strugnell (all 26 years old and under) amassed 141VPs only partially faltering when confined to a 17-13 win over home team Adams. 70 competitors representing 13 bridge clubs from the Sydney, Illawarra, Wagga, Canberra, Cootamundra and Central West areas made up 30 Pairs on Saturday, 14 Teams on Sunday and competed for a splendid array of prizes. Club members provided many snacks, cakes and slices and served high quality and delicious food for lunches, all sourced from local businesses. A huge amount of food disappeared over the 2 days and travellers on Sunday were sent on their way with small food hampers for their journey. Lloyd Cleaver directed and was assisted by a large team of other club directors and members who helped over both days in making the play problem free and successful – a very happy and friendly atmosphere prevailed even aſter Lloyd got the whip out on Saturday aſternoon to speed up play. Just 2 days before the Melbourne Cup, team McMahon stormed home to take out the overall Teams competition at the Central West Novice Tournament hosted by Bathurst & District Bridge Club for bridge players with 35 MPs and under.

Not that it was a fast run home, just a general quickening of pace over the 6 rounds of play.
