Cloverleaf Squares

Cloverleaf Squares has a lot of funthings planned for the summer and wehope you will join us for all the goodtimes.

In late April, our new class graduated after learningthe Mainstream calls. In May we moved to the firehall on East Henrietta road and began our summerschedule. We have a round dance class learningrumba and cha-cha from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. eachSunday. Mark and Marlene Thone taught the first twoclasses on May 6 and 20. Starting June 2 andcontinuing until August 26, Alice and Gary Bubel willcontinue to teach these classes.

Every Sunday, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm Mike Callahanwill be teaching Plus calls as well as reviewingMainstream calls. Everyone one is welcome toattend. From 8:00 to 9:00 the club will dance at thelevel that has been taught and there will be roundsbetween tips. From 9:00 to 10:00 the club will dancefull Plus level with rounds. All experienced dancersare welcome to join us.

On June 10, we will have a Red, White, and Bluetheme in honor of Flag Day (June 14).

There will be NO DANCE on July 1 in honor ofIndependence Day. Saturday, July 14 will be our JulyFest with Caller Ron Reardon from Florida and our

own Alice Bubel cueing rounds. Dancing is from 7:00to 10:00 p.m. at the fire hall on East Henrietta Road.Sunday, July 15 is Boots and Shorts night andSunday, July 29 is Crazy T-shirt night. Start planningnow for the best outfits to wear to these fun dances!

Saturday, August 4 is our annual picnic and bonfire atthe home of Jane Avery. It is sponsored by CloverleafSquares, but everyone is welcome. Picnic begins at1:00 p.m. Bring a dish to pass, lawn chair, and anygames you would like to share. The pool will be openso bring your bathing suit/towel if you would like toswim. Friday, August 24, Mike Sikorsky, a nationalcaller from Arizona, will be calling at the Henrietta firehall with Alice Bubel cueing rounds. Early roundsbegin at 7:00 pm with 2X2 squares and rounds from7:30 to 10:00. We will end our summer schedule withan ice cream social on Sunday, August 26.

There will be no dance on Sunday, September 2(Labor Day weekend). We look forward to our OpenHouses on September 9 and 16 and hope to bringlots of new folks into class to join us in our favoritesport — square dancing!!! We will resume our regularwinter schedule at the First Baptist Church of Chili onSunday, September 23.

Copy Cats

Well another winter has come to a coldclose. Spring offers some sunshine and somewhatwarmer weather. The Copy Cats Snow Birds aremigrating back and looking forward to May, June andJuly. Some of us may have been gone for the winter,but our Co-Presidents Rick and Donna LaDonna (inAlabama) along with our Copy Cats Board (inRochester) have kept the Club going without a hitch.Our dances have been well attended and wewelcomed guests from many Federation clubsthroughout the spring.

Our April 21 dance was an overwhelming success.There were 10 squares dancing! Thanks to EileenWebster and Mike Callahan for providing a greatdance. Mike was a master at putting us in uniquepositions to execute calls we were supposed to know.

Usually, our dance season ends in late April.However, due to the cancellation of our January 6dance, the Copy Cats will be hosting a SummerPajama Party on Friday, August 17 from 6:30 to 9:00p.m. at VFW Post 8495 in Fairport. Mike Callahan willcall this graduate-friendly dance. Get your pajamas,

sleep pants, robes and slippers ready for this funevening of dancing.

The Copy Cats are proud to announce the graduationof 10 Copy “Kittens”. They are: Laurie & DaveCollins, Evan Desmitt, Domenica Gustke, Donna &Jorgen Kongerslev, Donna Kramer, Jolanta & TomMokrzan and Deborah Vincent. We congratulatethem on their dancing accomplishments over the pastyear and look forward to having them join our Club.

Grand Squares

Can you believe it is the end of anotherdancing season? Just as at the end of each calendaryear we look back at our successes and forward tothe unknown adventures lying ahead, so we, aspresidents of Grand Squares, do likewise. Mike, Jimand Terry have provided us with many evenings offun dancing and numerous guests have helped to fillour squares. We are grateful for each one’scontribution during the year. We are grateful to theschool custodians who transform the cafeteria intoour dancing space, to Ray, our treasurer, who is thereevery dance to collect the money and keep our club

solvent, and Donna who brought snacks almostevery other dance.

We are now looking forward to starting anotherdancing season in September. Until then, we hopeour club members and guests will have a greatsummer and will take advantage of some of thedances being offered by other clubs during our timeoff.

This workshop is designed for dancers who arecomfortable with Phase II figures and would like tolearn Phase III in several different rhythms. Shirts 'N' Skirts

Shirts ’n Skirts dances throughout thesummer. We have an air conditionedhall. If you are camping or visiting friends in the area,stop by and join us for Friday night dancing. Silver Squares graduated three Mainstream dancerson May 21. Certificates, badges and cake made thisa joyous occasion.

JUNE: June 25 will be our annual picnic whichprecedes the dance. Both are at our usual location(Greece United Methodist Church).

Well it seems like winter might be finallyover and it’s time for camping season tobegin. By the time you read this we willhave had our first weekend of the season and areanticipating a wonderful summer of dancing andcamping. Dances on both Friday and Saturdayevening begin with early rounds at 7:30 with squaresbeginning at 8:00. Attire is always up to you … mostof us prefer casual clothes since it is often colder inthe evenings. Our June weekend, June 22 to 24, willfeature Howard and Donna Williamson calling andcueing. It is always a rockin’ “Rowdy” good time withboth of them. Our hosts for that weekend are Garyand Sue Irvine. Village Squares

This issue covers the time from the lastdance (June 6) of our 2017–2018 dance year to thefirst activities of our 2018–2019 dance year.

The goodbye to our 2017–2018 dance year occurs atour Trail’s End dance on Wednesday, June 6, whichfeatures an Ice Cream Social. The dance begins at7:00 p.m. and includes 2X2 Plus Squares andRounds. Gil Porter will be calling and a pre-recordedJerry Carmen will be cueing. There will be no PlusWorkshop this night. The location is at the UnitedChurch of Pittsford, 123 South Main St., just south ofthe village. Refer to our flyer in this issue. With thatour 2017–2018 dance season ends, and the clubgoes into its summer semi-hibernation. Some clubmembers truly hibernate while others visit other clubsthat dance and/or teach while Village Squares ishibernating.

We leap into the 2018–2019 dance year with oursummer picnic on Wednesday July 25 at Kings BendPark. To reach the park turn north off of JeffersonRoad just east of Clover (Rte. 65). We have reservedthe north pavilion. Games and socializing start at3:00 p.m. Bring a dish to pass, beverages, and lawnchairs. The club will provide burgers and hots, rollsand condiments, plates, cups and utensils.
