HELLOA lot of people have asked us: “ When are you guys coming with some new shapes? When are you dropping some rocker? You should totally combine this shape with that shape and then some TBT on top, that would be so awesome!” We hate to disappoint but we just don’t believe in innovation for the sake of being different. We believe in improving on something that actually works. And by now most people can agree that Triple Base Technology works. Some other brands also seem to agree as we see they are doing their best to come up with stuff that looks like it. TBT works but that doesn’t mean we can’t improve on it.

This season everything is new and everything has been seriously improved. But it’s still TBT, on every board as always ’cuz TBT is still the best base shape for your snowboard. All the shapes, outlines and TBT flavors have been updated for the 1112 range. We went back to the drawing board and redesigned the whole range based on 10+ years of testing, experience and rider feedback since we patented this shaping concept back in 1998.

But don’t believe us! Try one!

Triple Base Technology divides the nose and tail area into 3 parts.

The left sidebase for turning left.

The center flat middle base for going straight.

The right sidebase for turning right.

The side bases are lifted up with gradually increasing angles starting from flat in the binding area to a maxiumum uplift around the widest point of the tip and tail.

The patented TBT shape is created by using special shaped molds when pressing the final board. This means that TBT is happening top to bottom ( VIEW B to VIEW F ). Base, core laminates, edges and topsheet of a TBT board are the same thickness as a traditional flat board. No material is taken out or shaved off.

The lifted sidebases are combined with full tip to tail positive camber.

When the board is ridden and the riders weight is pressing down on the camber ( VIEW G ) the nose and tail are still loose at their widest points because of the dynamic edge rocker . Meanwhile the pressed camber loads your board with pop for a snappy edge to edge and explosive ollies.

TBT EXPLAINED

NEW!The biggest noticable change for this season are in the nose and tail shapes. We updated all the nose and tail ramps to a longer smoother uplift curve. The TBT has been taken further out all the way through the tip and tail bends to the ends of the board. Less noticable but just as important is that all boards now have an extra kick, or increased TBT, after the effective edge. This creates an even looser feeling board with more pow floating abilities, without sacrificing edge hold.

Everyone riding our Triple Base Tech boards knows that with TBT you get a board that is more versatile than anything else in its category. With TBT you get jib sticks you can still snowboard on, twins that still carve, crazy carve machines that still butter and freaky pow floating boards that still handle better than anything on slopes. This season everything just got a whole lot better with new TBT flavors and new nose and tail shapes all over the range.

BOTH WAYS!TBT Dynamics bend your board both ways! Combining the unique patented TBT rail to rail concave with full tip to tail positive camber. This creates a board that is both loose and forgiving while still delivering explosive camber driven pop and snappy edge to edge control. You have seen rockers, bananas and all sorts of fruity combos but in the end TBT is the one that actually works. Only benefits, no negatives. It truly makes every kind of snowboarding more fun.

less nose = less swing weight = easy spins

extra TBT kick over here = looser ride

gradual TBT angle increase = smooth ride

smoother ramps = faster slide

A TBT snowboard is flat between the bindings with angled side bases that are lifted with gradually increasing angles. The uplift starts from flat in the binding area to a maximum increase at the widest point of the board. With the new updated TBT there is a slight extra uplift happening after the effective edge end to create an even looser feeling without sacrificing control.

N.B. some of the views on these pages have been slightly exaggerated to illustrate TBT better on this small scale.

Page 5: Bataleon Snowboard 2012

Less unnecessary active edge means less drag and more speed. On top of that less edge catch creates more confidence resulting in even more speed. Now there is no reason why you shouldn’t win every race back to the lodge.

Enhanced dynamics gives more speed and better control onto kickers even when they have lots of tracks in the run-in and take off. The forgiveness of Triple Base Technology combined with the responsiveness of normal camber equals smoother landings.

A TBT Board is more versatile then a conventional flat board. You can ride a stiffer board and still have more forgiveness. You can ride longer boards with greater ease or ride shorter than on your old flat board and still have full control. You can even ride a wider board than you are used to and it will still feel narrow. TBT combines the best of both worlds, enabling you to ride all terrains with just one stick.

From a flat position a TBT board is at first tilted against the width at the waist only, making it easier to initiate a curve. It has the feel of a more narrow board. From one turn to another, the strong edge grip fades out and builds up again. Together with greatly reduced tendency for edge catch in the flat position these factors make edge-to-edge transitions way smoother.

When you go straight you don’t need as much effective edge as in a turn. In fact, it’s better to have less effective edge. A conventional board will always have the tendency to dig down in the snow at its widest points. This causes you to alternate between heelside and toeside pressure to remain in control when straight lining. With a Triple Base board all you do is point straight down and relax. Because the edges are lifted at the widest points of the board you hardly need to compensate for any sudden edge catching.

On a conventional flat board you will lose a lot of speed in transitions when going from vertical to horizontal since a conventional board tends to dig more aggressively into the wall. Because of the lifted edges a Triple Base board will dig less into the transition, offering a smoother and faster line from transition to vert.In the pipe, more speed up the wall means more air above the coping. With Triple Base boards you will discover it’s easier to go bigger in pipe.

Boards with camber have more pop than boards without camber, but when you add TBT to the mix it gets really explosive. Because of TBT’s concave tail and nose shape your board comes preloaded with extra pop. So when you are loading up your tail all the forces go to the centre of your tail section where they will seriously pop you out. It’s like snapping an ollie of fresh concrete.

Scan this QR code with your phone to watch a video explanation of how TBT works.

TBT ADVANTAGES

Because a Triple Base board is pre-shaped at the wider parts of the board it will cause less ‘ploughing’ than a conventional flat board, which tends to dig too deep at its widest points.

The lifted side-bases in nose and tail give more uplift in deep pow and make you sink in less than on a flat board. Now you can keep riding your freestyle board when it starts snowing. Or switch to TBT freeride base and feel what it is like to ride powder with even less back leg burn.

When going straight, you will only have active edge where you want it - between your feet. This is due to the lifted edges at the nose and tail. Less edge when going straight means less edge catching and less scorpions. Remember that only tilting the board 3 degrees gives you full edge contact again.

Because the Triple Base has lifted edges over the entire tip and tail section the board will not dig in as deep as a flat board. This released pressure on the widest points of the board results in less vibrations and the steel edge always keeps full contact with the snow resulting in better edge grip. The icier the conditions, the better this board will perform compared to conventional ‘flat’ boards.

On a conventional snowboard a slightly under rotated jump will often result in an out-of-control landing, or worse, a crash. Triple Base Technology gives you a lot more forgiveness in landings. Triple Base boards tend to track straight after landing even if you are a bit off balance or under rotated because the edges are less likely to dig in. The first thing to touch the snow is your base and not your tip or tail edge!

Without super aggressive edges at the wider points of your board it’s so easy to hit those butters.

When put under pressure in a tight turn a conventional board will always want to snap back to its original flat shape. A Triple Base board is already pre-shaped for turning and therefore offers a smoother turn.

As the powder is getting tracked you will need to traverse more and more. With TBT you will always get to the next stash first. Lifted edges on the widest part of your board will make traversing so much more relaxed. On top of that, switching from toe to heel side traverse is so much easier with TBT.

TBT makes every kind of snowboarding better. It is almost incredible to see how much better snowboarding gets when you bend your board from rail to rail while keeping full camber tip to tail. That’s why we put all the advantages we discovered over the years on this page, but we still tell you to not believe us. Ever seen a brand talk shit about their own tech? Exactly. So go and try it yourself, don’t trust any company trying to sell you a product.

what it is

ALLMOUNTAIN TBT is optimized for a more directional ride with a slightly more narrow center base for fast edge to edge and extended center flat for high speed stability.

FREESTYLE TBT is the most all around TBT version in the line. A good for everything shape with fast edge to edge, freestyle looseness and overall stability.

FREERIDE TBT is optimized for all mountain freeriding. Narrow center base for fast edge to edge. Bigger uplift in the nose side bases create super floating powder wings. The middle flat is set back putting more power under your back foot.

Center Base is about 1/3 of tip/tail width.Extended middle flat.Slightly more sidewing uplift in nose than tail.

TBT comes in different flavors just like snowboarding. To find the best board you have ever ridden, match a TBT flavor to your riding style. Whether your favorite thing is a front board or a frontside turn we have got a TBT shape to match it.

If you are more into park, jumps and rails you should look into our JIB and TWIN TBT shapes. If you want an allround freestyle board check out FREESTYLE TBT. If you want something slightly more directional you should look to ALLMOUNTAIN TBT or take it all the way to FREERIDE TBT to get maximum powder and carving benefits.

Even though these flavors are fine tuned to specific riding categories you should keep in mind that TBT makes every board more versatile. You will find that our ALLMOUNTAIN TBT still has plenty of freestyle DNA and our TWIN TBT boards can still kill it on edge and float pow like no traditional flat twin shape out there.

EXTRAS

TBT FLAVORS

Bi-ax laminates over and under the woodcore creates an easy flex with lots of feel.

Tri-ax laminates over and under the core delivers precision in your riding.

Hammer Edges are thicker, stronger and more durable than your average edge.

Thinner Lightning Edges enable you to carve with more feeling and precision.

Basalt stringers increase responsiveness and helps us to fine tune layups for more pop and feel. See previous ‘extra layups’ page for more.

Added Carbon stringers save weight while adding strength and pop. See the next ‘extra layups’ page for more info.

We have divided our diferent TBT shapes in 5 categories: JIB TBT, TWIN TBT, FREESTYLE TBT, ALLMNTN TBT and FREERIDE TBT. Find the TBT shape that fits your riding profile the best! See previous pages for more...

OUTLINE SHAPE

The outline of a board is either twin or directional. Twin outline shapes have identical nose and tail shapes. Directional outline shapes have differences between nose and tail outlines. Note that a board can have a twin outline but still have a directional flex pattern.

FLEX PATTERN

A board either has a twin or a directional flex. When it has a twin flex, the flex in the nose and tail are the same. When it has a directional flex, the nose and tail flex are different. Note that a board can have an identical nose and tail flex but a different center flex.

FLEX RATING

We don’t do stiffness. We do Flex. Our flex-rate is a scale from 0 to 10, where 0 is a super stiff board and 10 is a super noodly board. In the flexrating you’ll find three values, one for the nose-flex, one for the flex between the inserts and one for the tail-flex. So for example a 5-6-5 flex is a board with a medium flex that is slightly softer in between the bindings.

WARRANTY

We provide a 2 year limited warranty against manufacturing defects, from the original date purchased from an Authorized Bataleon Dealer. Check www.bataleon.com/warranty for more information on our warranty policy.

Bataleon is committed to delivering strictly high-end snowboards. We will not substitute what goes inside our boards for B-grade materials compensated with marketing blah blah to cover it up. What you get is simply the best quality board your money can buy, and we got one of the lowest warranty return ratios in the industry to prove it.

Easy to repair and can take a good beating. Low maintenance, still slides well with irregular waxing (but waxing is always recommended of course!).

Fast as Fuck. Great wax absorption and tough as nails. These bases come with wax infused. Keep ‘em waxed to get the most out of them.

This is a bit too much really. Normally only used on race boards. Keep it waxed and you’ll be the fastest on the hill.

Poplar core with hardwood enforcements along the insert rows. This increases the core strength of your board and channels all energy into more pop.

Poplar core with hardwood enforcements along the sidewalls. The hardwood along the edge makes you deliver your turns with precision and power.

A superlight core that is still strong enough to stand up to our break tests. Made of Poplar and enhanced with Paulowina wood.

NEW! Backseat inserts let you drop your stance all the way back so you can keep riding on those deep, deep days ( we actually stole this idea from Kevin –thanks Kev! ).

Made with a pressure bonded wood composite technology. Very hard to break, yet very flexible. Especially designed for reaching soft jib flex without sacrificing strength.

EDGE BEVEL

All our boards leave the factory with a 2-3 degrees edge bevel for an ultra smooth ride straight out of the plastic.

WAX If you want to get the most out of your base you will have to wax it regularly. TBT wax has been designed especially for Triple Base snowboards. TBT’s lifted sidebases have different angles to the snow than the flat center base. This causes different friction values. When you apply TBT wax you optimize each base section for the ultimate glide!

URBAN PARK FREESTYLE ALLMOUNTAIN FREERIDE

INGREDIENTS

Take this baby to the slopes, park or some nice tree lines because this board is all good all over the mountain! It’s a real one board quiver that will amaze you time and again. The TBT tip and tail concave comes with lots of preloaded pop that will explode likeTNT. The FREESTYLE TBT is like always having a get-out-of-jail-free-card up your sleeve for all those sketchy landings. The pre-shaped base is so smooth on edge it feels like skating with brand new wheels every day.

URBAN PARK FREESTYLE ALLMOUNTAIN FREERIDE

The perfect women’s all mountain board. Loads of forgiveness to help you progress to levels of riding you never thought possible. This season the Violenza has been trimmed down and narrowed at the waistline for those petite feet. Wrapped up in all mountain good looks that just doesn’t catch edge like those ‘flat’ boards out there.

This is our most aggressive all mountain board, perfect for those riders that can’t be bothered waiting up for family, friends and girlfriends but just want to point it down and go. The more aggressive you ride this board the more you will get out of it. Based on FREESTYLE TBT it’s like adding power steering to your ride making the edge to edge faster than Darth Vader’s light saber. Your weapon of choice when you want to take the whole mountain apart with precision and speed.
