RESISTORS
Resistors are used to limit current or divide voltage and in some cases, generate heat.
Used for driving circuit which requires low current and voltage than available.
A two terminal non-polar componentUnit of resistance is ‘Ω’.

Practical Use….• To reduce the current flowing in circuit, use resistance in
parallel.
• To reduce the voltage for any circuit, use resistance in series.

CAPACITORS
A two terminal electronic component which stores energy in form of charge.
Capacitance is a measure of a capacitor's ability to store charge.
Measured in Farads(F) µF or pF

Types of capacitors
Polarised: Specified +ve and –ve terminals
Non Polarised: No defined terminals

Practical use• Timer Circuits.
• Clipper & clamper circuit.
• DC filter circuits.

DIODES
• A two-terminal electronic component that conducts electric current in only one direction.
![Page 10: Basics of Electronics](https://reader034.fdocuments.net/reader034/viewer/2022052307/5597db511a28abb85e8b489e/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
The direction of arrow shows the only possible direction of current.

Types of diodes
• LED (Light Emitting Diode)Emits light when provided with power supply.
• Photo DiodeGenerates Current when it is exposed to light.

TRANSISTOR
• A transistor is a semiconductor device commonly used to amplify or switch electronic signals.
• The three terminals are Emitter, Base and Collector

• Transistor are of two types:
1-> n-p-n
A straight switch
2-> p-n-p
A inverted switch
