BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION The Non-Immigrant Visa Unit (NIV) in Mumbai is the eighth busiest post in the world. The incumbent directly supervises one of the three teams consisting of seven Visa Assistants in the NIV unit and supervises the entire NIV operations, which includes liaising with off-site vendor to ensure smooth day to day operations, providing training and ensuring proper application of the complex and frequently changing NIV regulations. With extensive understanding of the NIV procedures, the incumbent is expected to provide authoritative advice to Visa Assistants, while personally dealing with complex cases and independently judging specific cases that require an American officer’s attention.
