Basement Jaxx advertisement analysis

Above is an album advertisement for Basement Jaxx album ‘Rooty’. The design is made to look quirky and playful, using bold colours and a non serious image. The image uses an image of Snowflake, an albino gorilla. This image has been used to make the design less serious, which adds a sense of humour. The audience is able to enjoy the advert in a humorous way; this is a clever way of advertising as the bold imagery attracts the attention of the audience. The dark background allows the lighter image to stand out from the page. The background appears to be a space style background again adding to the quirky was of the design. The bright pink around the left hand side compliments the colours within the image. This pink section does not have a purpose and is used purely for design reasons. The masthead at the top of the design ‘Basement Jaxx’ uses a futuristic style font with bold colours inside. This immediately attracts the audience attention to the reader and is made clear and easy to read. The White text used for the album name ‘Rooty’ is simple but effective in the way it stands out from the page, layered upon the image of the gorilla. In general I think that basement Jaxx have clearly created a fun and quirky design to cleverly advertise their album.
