Preparations for integration DB was physicist

reponsible for integration Developed the procedures

to be used during integration

Verified the procedures DB and JF produced a

lengthy list of items to be finished before integration. This list was adopted by an

internal review committee on barrel integration readiness

Page 7: Barrel Support Structure and Barrel Integration Preparations

Preparations for integration (cont.) Prepared the infrastructure

require for integration (scolding, gas lines, HV lines, HV software, module protection)

Prepared the modules for integration (Capacitor insertion)

First module permanently installed June 2004

DB passes responsibility for Barrel integration to Chiho Wang during June 2004DB could not travel as much (~

60% of time at CERN) for family reasons.

Conclusions Duke played a vital role in the BSS assembly Without efforts of JF and DB BSS assembly and

verification would have not happened in a timely manner.

DB and JF made crucial and significant contributions to preparations for the start of integration. This required that both spend large amounts of time at CERN for the past year (> 6 months each).

Excellent preparation for integration has meant that integration has gone smoothly (see Chiho’s talk).
