Welcome and IntroductionThank you for expressing your interest in becoming a part of the Barclays Jersey Boat Show 2014.

In the space of just six years the Barclays Jersey Boat Show has established itself as the largest free-entry maritime event in the Channel Islands. Firmly recognised in the British Boating Calendar and guaranteeing both national and international media, the show sits comfortably alongside the more familiar maritime events, such as London and Southampton.

In 2013 it attracted 38,000+ visitors of various demographics over the weekend, its highest ever attendance and to date has generated an income in excess of £16 million.

The 2014 Jersey Boat Show will take place over the May Bank Holiday weekend and will be open to the public between Saturday 3 May and Monday 5 May 2014. For the first time a preview afternoon will be held on Friday 2 May in St Helier Marina when the pontoons will be open exclusively to invited guests and members of the media.

The story of the Barclays Jersey Boat Show is, quite simply, one of extraordinary success…

It was towards the end of 2007 that the idea for a Jersey Boat Show was first suggested. Jersey Marinas was seeking new ways in which to support and grow the Island’s marine leisure business as well as the marine economy and it soon became clear that a boat show would be an ideal way to achieve that aim.

The inaugural boat show, held in spring 2008 was considered an outstanding achievement, attracting an estimated 12,000 visitors and generating over £4m worth of businesses for exhibitors. Despite a period of economic downturn that has seen European boat sales tumble and other boat shows falter, the event has continued to go from strength to strength. Not only has it become the largest free-entry community event to be held in the Channel Islands it is now firmly positioned in the British boating calendar, sitting comfortably alongside more established shows such as those of London and Southampton.

The 2009 event saw visitor numbers increase to 20,000 proving that the Jersey Boat Show was not destined to be a ‘one hit wonder’. As its reputation began to increase so did its visitor numbers, reaching an impressive 30,000 over the past three years and in 2013 welcomed its largest ever attendance figures of 38,000 over the three days.

Following a successful partnership first secured in 2010, the event’s longevity is further boosted in 2014 and beyond thanks to a further 3-year title sponsorship deal with Barclays. By securing this agreement and strengthening our partnership, the Barclays Jersey Boat Show is guaranteed another successful year.

The Key FactsIn 2013 the Barclays Jersey Boat Show attracted an estimated 38,000 visitors over the three days:

➜ 98% of visitors rated the Barclays Jersey Boat Show 2013 as excellent or good;

➜ It is now the largest free event in the Channel Islands;

➜ Unlike other large scale events in Jersey, admission is free;

➜ The Barclays Jersey Boat Show offers an excellent return on investment – with low exhibitor rates, consistently high footfall numbers and a proven quality of clientele in attendance;

➜ 92% of 2013 exhibitors said they would be interested in exhibiting again in 2014.

Successful GrowthThe Barclays Jersey Boat Show 2013 enjoyed another successful year, welcoming its highest ever number of visitors; 38,000 over the three days.

Due to the increasing number of exhibitors, and repeat exhibitors wishing to increase the number of units they require, the arena has extended by over 20% in recent years and now extends south of the Albert Quay.

Attendance figuresThe footfall through and around the entire arena remains excellent and our attendance figures in 2013 show that around 38,000 people attended the show over the three days.

Similarly, the pontoon figures remain buoyant and despite a restriction of the number of people permitted on the pontoons at any one given time, as a health and safety precaution, over 10,000 were welcomed over the three days in 2013.

Jersey Boat Show 20�4 Opportunity: The Main StageThe main stage is a focal point of the Barclays Jersey Boat Show, adding to the ‘festival’ atmosphere throughout the weekend.

A varied programme of activity will be taking place on the main stage during the weekend attracting large crowds of spectators. This will include the official opening of the show on Saturday lunchtime as well as the traditional Sea Sunday Service the following morning. Interspersed with performances from Jersey bands, musicians and entertainers this is a high-profile area in which to promote your company.

The main stage will be renamed for the duration of the event and will be referred to in all printed and verbal material – i.e. The ‘ABC Main Stage’. In addition, your company name will precede all announcements and public introductions on the main stage by the Boat Show MC and will feature on the Boat Show Arena Plan.

The Outdoor & Active Zone, located on the south side of the Albert Pier, first introduced in 2011 has proved to be one of the most popular and successful elements of the show, hosting a number of leisure related activities, including the popular charity bungee jump in 2013.

The ‘Zone’, which will once again be located to the south of the Albert Pier, is an area dedicated to all things activity-related, appealing to all ages. The area will host a variety of exhibitors and demonstrations, both land and water based active pursuits, including mountain biking, paddle boarding, kayaking and flyboarding.

The area will be renamed for the duration of the Boat Show and referred to in all printed material and verbally – i.e. The ‘ABC’ Outdoor and Active Zone.

In addition, as part of your investment your company will benefit from the following:

For a true taste of life on the ocean waves visitors can head to the ‘Get Onboard’ pontoons and step aboard many local and visiting commercial boats. In recent years these have included visits from Tall Ships such as Lord Nelson and sailing ships from bygone eras. While closer to home the States Tug Duke of Normandy is always a popular attraction for visitors as are the regular diving demonstrations by Transport & Technical Services Unit.

This identified section of the arena, situated on the Albert Quay continues to gain significant focus since it was first introduced in 2010 with Pontoons 4 and 5 set aside to host a flotilla of water craft and demonstrations.

With even more activities and a feature programme of demonstrations on the water planned for 2014 this promises to be a fantastic highly visible opportunity for your company.
