DAY 1 Benvinguts a Barcelona!After arriving on individual flights into El Prat Airport, transfer to the Hotel Arts Barcelona, a seaside luxury hotel showcasing work by Frank Gehry. Gather in the late afternoon for an introduction to Barcelona’s history and identity during a guided walking tour that includes the elegant Paseo de Gracia, the tree-lined La Rambla and the epicenter of some of Barcelona’s most important avenues, Plaça de Catalunya. Enjoy a private visit at the Josep Puig-designed modernist Casa Amattler. This evening, discover authentic regional flavors with dinner at La Clara. (D)

DAY 2 Gaudí’s Barcelona Awaken your senses with a late-morning excursion to La

Boqueria, one of the most famous markets in the world.

Stroll through the aisles at your own pace, savoring the

colors, flavors and sights. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant

overlooking the Mediterranean that specializes in fresh fish

and paella. This afternoon, participate in a discussion with

your L.A. Times journalist before setting out for a tour of

Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia and a private after-hours visit to

La Pedrera (Casa Milà) when it is closed to the public. Sip a

glass of cava as you look out from the rooftop of this unique

DAY 3 Barcelona’s TransformationMeet with a member of the Van der Rohe Foundation at the

Mies van der Rohe-designed Pavilion, which was built for the

1929 international exposition and has served as the inspiration

for numerous modernist structures. Explore Pritzker Award-

winner Arata Isozaki’s renovation design for the CaixaForum

and see the Calatrava Tower as well as the Olympic cauldron,

an iconic symbol of the 1992 Olympic games. Your guide

this afternoon will be a renowned professor of architecture

from the University of Barcelona who will lead a private tour

through Barcelona’s modern spaces, including former textile

buildings and the lively neighborhoods of Poble Sec and Sant

Antoni. Delight in lunch at Tapas 24 before the enjoying your

Take an excursion to Costa Brava for a day away from the city. Arrive in the region of Empordá and explore its medieval villages like La Bisbal and Peratallada. In Dalí’s hometown of Figueres, take a guided tour of the Dalí Theater-Museum, the largest surrealist object in the world. Conceived and designed by the artist, the Dalí Theater-Museum is a unique opportunity to experience the world and vision of Salvador Dalí unfiltered. Return to Barcelona in the early evening. (B)

DAY 4 Through the Eyes of Dalí

Meet with your host before venturing out for a private visit and light lunch at the Can Framis Museum, a modernist building that serves as an art center devoted to the promotion of contemporary Catalan painting. This afternoon, accompanied by a local architect, you will focus on the changing face of Barcelona and its sustainability efforts with a visit to 22@Barcelona, an urban renewal project in the formerly industrial district of Poblenou.
