Chancery Notice No Tax Exemption for Lenten Appeal

His Lordship, Bishop Joseph Hii just received the news this morning from Catholic Welfare Service Council, Sarawak of Kuching Archdiocese, that it is confirmed that there will be no tax exemption for Lenten Appeal this year.

His Lordship has mentioned this matter during the Priests’ meeting on 20/3/2019 and now it is confirmed. All the Parishes are to communicate this matter to the parishioners at their respective Churches.

However, for the purpose of acknowledgement and transparency, Sibu Catholic Welfare Service will still issue receipts through the parishes concerned to those asking for receipts.

During the Season of Lent: The Adoration of the Body of Christ would be replaced by the Prayers of the Stations of the Cross on Friday. (No Holy Hour, but parishioners are strongly encouraged to perform personal adoration at other time. The Blessed Sacrament Chapel is opened every day from 6:00am to 9:00pm)
