Just the Facts Ma’am by Michelle J.K. Rahe, Director of Business Thank you very much for your year-end donations to our parish. When we prepare our budget for the operating costs of the parish each year, we hope to receive $50,000 in Christmas donations from you. So far, we have received $49,162 in Christmas donations!! Zip-a-Dee-Doo Dah!! Also, we received many last minute 2015 donations and several stock transactions so you can see that we are in better shape than we were a month ago. We are still short $10,186.22 from what we need from your weekly Sunday envelopes/EFT giving. We need $18,173 per week or $945,000 per year from your donations. Our other major sources of income are: The Golf Outing, The Parish Picnic, Apartment rent from four apartments in our Convent building and Convent Suites rent from our retreat area/hotel in the Convent building. We are very grateful when we receive Memorial money and Special Donations during the year but that is not money that we can count on receiving each year. Many times, Memorial money and Special Donations are given for a specific project. So, that is not money that we can use to pay our ongoing bills eg) electricity, water, gas, maintenance, snow removal, assessment to Holy Family Catholic Schools etc. We have a big, beautiful campus ― thank you for your help in keeping it operating from year to year. Father Anderson and I have met with Jeff Morton, Mike Hoffmann, Joe Faley, and Barb Roling regarding our parking lot/alley renovation project. If you will recall, last spring, our parishioner, Larry Gasper, gave us his house and we sold it. Per Larry’s request, the proceeds are to be used to update the south and west parking lot and the alley between the Church and the Convent building. The main thing we have to address is the drainage of the water and the melting snow. The hill behind the Convent building is being held up by a bench behind the baseball backstop. That hill “slid” when we had 11 inches of rain several years ago. We need to build a retaining wall in that area. We also need to resurface the alley and make some safety improvements to block off the alley when our Grade School students are in that area to go to Hot Lunch. We would like to make the door south of the glass entrance handicap accessible. Our goal is to start this project after school gets out this summer. The surveyors have already been here. We will keep you posted on the progress. Questions can be directed to [email protected] or 583-9117 Extension 226.

Dear Parishioners,
Christmas Season concludes with today’s Feast of the Baptism of the Lord.
Jesus models for us the personal pathway of conversion—rebirth and renewal by
the Holy Spirit. With Baptism we personally enter into the Life of Jesus Christ!
It is the Holy Spirit that gradually transforms us from self-centered to Jesus
centered. This is not based upon some super strength or great virtue. It is
opening our heart to accept Jesus as the Lord of our Life.
Often our parents help us to do this from the earliest days of our life. We grow
up, learning to follow the Holy Spirit as One in Christ Jesus. We renew the vows
of our Baptism, receiving additional sacraments and grow in the light of God’s
Love! My dad, like many others was Baptized later in life as an adult. Others
make death bed conversions such as John Wayne and Oscar Wilde. Ultimately,
we realize that we are not on earth to build our own kingdom. We are called to
personal growth in holiness and the building up the Kingdom of God!
This is the first week of our Grace 2.0 sermon series—everyone’s journey of
spiritual renewal! In the second week, we bring this grace of renewal into our
relationships, especially in the Sacrament of Marriage. Third, this powerful grace
calls us into the Mission of God’s Kingdom—Yes, in everyday life. Fourth, the
Holy Spirit renews our community and our culture. Fifth, the very structure of
our society in one Body in Christ!
May Jesus smile upon you and grant you His Eternal Blessings!
Fr. Gabriel
