Bangkok Multi Transport Adventure

As one of the world’s great mega-cities, Bangkok is best seen from

an insider’s perspective. ‘The City of Angels’ is the largest city in

Southeast Asia and one of the most chaotically-planned. It can be

confusing to navigate, exhausting visitors with their experience.

With this in mind, we’ve found a way to do justice to the capital.

We’ll hit the must-see sights and a few off the beaten path

curiosities, bustling markets and delicious food stops. The touring

is flexible and will be adapted to your interests.

We’ll use canal boats, motorcycle taxis, three-wheeled tuk-tuks,

and longtail boats to see more in one day than most folks see in

three. The question is what you’ll enjoy more – the sites or getting

to them!

Time: approximately 10:00 - 16:00 Exploration by: walking, multiple boats, three-wheeled tuk-tuk and SkyTrain

Includes: snacks, drinking water, soft drinks, cool towels, all entrances fees, transport costs

and a professional host.

Bangkok Headlights Adventure

This is your chance to experience ‘One Night in Bangkok’. It’s out

for an outstanding Thai meal, then your customized night on the

town. We’ll walk through various neighbourhoods, followed by

some great local food, a beverage or two in strange places, and a

nice visit through market areas and historical districts. The best

way to do this is by using a variety of local transportation in order

to be spontaneous and efficient. The evening winds up at either

one of the famous red-light market districts, a riverside bar or even

the Bohemian backpacker community of Khao San Road,

depending on your hotel location and interests by that point in the

evening.

Time: approximately 18:00 - 23:00, flexible

Includes: snacks, drinking water, soft drinks, cool towels, all entrances fees, transport costs

and a professional host.

Cycle Hidden Bangkok

Hop on a bike and discover another side of Bangkok that you

probably didn’t expect to find beyond the skyscrapers and maze of

busy streets. Today we’ll explore hidden Bangkok through some of

our favourite sleepy neighbourhoods. We’ll head across the mighty

Chao Phraya River to get a closer look at the canal-side

communities and rural areas of Thonburi, the capital of Siam briefly

between the Ayutthaya and Bangkok periods.

Our highlights today include hidden temples, fun routes on

elevated canal paths, quiet streets, old bridges, Canal-side life and

the opportunity to sample local food from vendors using old family

recipes.

Biking: 20 kilometres (flexible), paved roads and narrow paths

Bicycles are well-maintained, high-performance mountain bikes with front suspension,

helmets, gloves and water bottles. Please make sure you are confident of biking in narrow

lanes and small alleys. Good balancing skills are required.

Liquid Bangkok

Discover the original Bangkok riverside neighbourhoods which are

the foundation of the city’s early development. Chinese,

Portuguese, Muslim and British influences blend with Thai

communities along Bangkok’s famous Chao Phraya River. Using

the waterway as our launch point, we’ll walk in the steps of early

Bangkok merchants, exploring the architecture, neighbourhood

mercantile and commercial entities, as well as significant temples

well off the usual beaten track. Several longtail boat starts and

stops take us through Thonburi, Thailand’s capital between the

Ayutthaya and Bangkok periods, visiting old artisan villages,

markets and art communities.

Time: suggest to start no later than 11:00 (5-6 hours, flexible)

Exploration: by multiple boats and foot

Meal: L at local restaurant

Bangkok High Culture

Bangkok is home to many museums, historical sites and a

vanishing number of beautiful traditional Thai homes. This

exploration delves into prime sites, ideal for gaining an

understanding of Thai design, architecture, history and culture.

We’ll navigate the city by using multi forms of urban transport such

as Skytrain, tuk-tuks, walking etc.

Suggested places:

● Marble Temple

● National Museum

● Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles

Chinatown

Our Yaowarat (Bangkok Chinatown) half-day walk is an               eye-opening journey into the back streets, spirit shrines, and                 frantic markets of one of the world's most vibrant Chinatowns.  The Chinese legacy of Bangkok’s origins cannot be understated.                 As one of the original cornerstones of the city, early Chinese                     merchants enabled Bangkok commerce to thrive and turned the                 city into one of the great trading centers of Asia. Bangkok now                       boasts a population of more than one million Chinese and has one                       of the most colourful Chinatowns on the planet. Fast, frantic and                     eclectic, a ramble through Yaowarat is cacophony for the senses.   Explore narrow lanes, fresh markets, religious landmarks and               textile booths. Enhance the journey by sampling street snacks                 while gaining candid impressions for the cultural mosaic that is                   Bangkok. Your host will take you to Chinatown via the Skytrain and                       Underground systems on a roughly 4-hour outing at a time of your                       choosing.

Ancient Ayutthaya

We’ll get up close and personal with Ayutthaya’s stunning temples,                   from the must see root-entwined Buddha head to the hidden                   temples tucked away from the main sites. Today we’ll explore                   everything Thai, from the great history, to the riverfront                 community, authentic cuisine and local village life, this intimate                 exploration of Ayutthaya gives you a genuine appreciation for the                   city's significance to the Thai people.   Our day trips in Bangkok and Ayutthaya are also designed to be run                         as independent trips. We often have business travelers with only                   one or two days free who really get a kick out of our 'Bangkok                           MultiTransport' and 'Headlights' adventures, plus the Ancient             Ayutthaya day trip. There is a dress code recommendation for                   Buddhist sites in Ayutthaya of shirts that cover shoulders, and                   shorts/skirts that cover the knees. No beach sandals, but sport                   sandals with straps around the heel are okay.

Floating Markets near Bangkok

There are several floating markets which open daily as well as a few which open on                               weekends or specific local calendar only. Following are our recommended itineraries..

Tha Kha Floating Market

We’ll pick you up after an early breakfast at your hotel and drive

west to visit Tha Kha Floating Market. The market is named after a

long water grass native to the area, and retains a distinctive Thai

charm seldom found at the more famous floating markets closer to

Bangkok. Postcard visuals abound as vendors trade with each

other and hawk goods to locals and visitors along the canal’s edge.

Board a wooden paddle boat and cruise through palm plantations

and soak-up the old market culture lovingly locked in time.

Before the afternoon heat, we’ll transfer you back to your hotel to

enjoy the rest of the day at leisure... or we could explore more

interesting sites on the way back to town if you so choose.

Time: half day, 07:30 - 13:30 (weekends and lunar calendar only)

Exploration by: Private van, paddle boat and walking

Driving: 1.5 hours each way from Bangkok

Meals: Snacks

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

We’ll pick you up after an early breakfast at your hotel and drive

west to visit Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, the largest floating

market in the vicinity of Bangkok and probably the one you’ve seen

on the postcards! Totally chaotic, small 'klongs' or canals are filled

with small flat-bottom boats jockeying for position, expertly

paddled by mature ladies ready to stop and bargain at a moment's

notice. It's colorful, noisy, totally touristy but great fun. If you want

a more ‘authentic’ feel to your visit, it’s best to get there as early as

you can.

Before the afternoon heat, we’ll transfer you back to your hotel to

enjoy the rest of the day at leisure... or we could explore more

interesting sites on the way back to town if you so choose.
