• Taken CAT since 2008. Highest was 92 with 95 in QA/DI

• Taken XAT since 2010. Highest score was 95 with 99%tile in Verbal. The same year I got 17%tile in Verbal in CAT.

• Missed XL BM call every year as I fell short of percentile cut offs in one of the three sections. One time, I missed Quant cut off by 0.3 %tile.

• Taken NMAT twice and scored 99%tile but didn’t join because of higher work experience.

• MH-CET – 99.29%tile in 2011 and MAT December - 99.86%tile with scaled score of 792 of 800 in 2009.

The Issues with CAT

• The normalization process is not easily understood.

• It does not provide a fair representation of the student’s ability.

• Student needs to wait over a month to know his / her results. So performance cannot be measured immediately.

• Score is valid only for 1 year

• Student can attempt the CAT only once in a year.

Study Plan for the GMAT

Weeks 1 to 4:-Take 1 diagnostic test to begin-Practice Critical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and Sentence Correction-Start off with Quant basics-Take another test at end of the month

Weeks 5 to 8:-Keep practicing Verbal-Quant focus on advanced/hard topics-Take minimum 4 to 6 tests

Weeks 8 to 12 (optional)- Selective Practice in Quant and Verbal from GMATPrep.- Focus on areas which are your weak points- Take at least 1 to 2 tests per week

Difference in the application process

• In CAT your application process depends on your score. You get short listed for a GD/PI/WAT only on the basis of your CAT percentile

•However, on the GMAT your profile also plays an equivalent role in deciding your MBA application.

•Career progress and achievements are also taken into consideration when applying with a GMAT score.

•A good profile can always compensate for a low GMAT score.
