THE BENEFITHealthyWhen you compare a banana to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice
the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin C and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals.
ConvenientBanana on toast is a common snack but it’s inconvenient for those in a hurry as
it takes time to mash the banana into a paste and clean up afterwards. Banana Jam has the same health benefits but takes the hassle out of preparing the meal.
Ethically ResponsibleBanana Jam is made from Fair Trade bananas and we will be applying to use the
fair trade logo on our products.
THE MARKETMarket SizeThe spreads Market in the UK was worth £414.7 Million in 2011. Jams and Fruit
Spreads make up the largest segment accounting for 26% of the market or £107.8 Million.
Market GrowthSales of sweet spreads have experienced 32% growth since 2006, the growth
coming largely on the back of rising retail prices driven by increasing commodity costs.
Price PointsThe average price of for Jam’s and Fruit Spreads is £0.52 per 100grams but
prices vary considerably from £0.21 at the bottom end of the scale to £0.79 at the top. We plan to price ourselves at the top end of the scale at £0.72 per 100grams or £2.25 per 300gm Jar.
