region. We cater for an increasing number of guests on escorted tours and city breaks in the region.

balticvision distributes its products through an extensive network of reliable and trustworthy tour

operators.

a fi rst class product

Multilingual Escorted Tours

All our tours are multilingual. They are off ered in 6 diff erent languages (English, German, Italian,

Spanish, French and Portuguese). Each tour is conducted in two languages and guests are normally

from a number of diff erent countries. Other guests with the same languages may join in or may

leave during a tour. In some cases guests with more than 2 languages may take a transfer or

participate in an optional tour together.

The tours are escorted by experienced bilingual tour escorts. In some cases the tour escort will be

substituted by a colleague during the tour.

The multilingual escorted tours represent a unique possibility to meet people across the borders

and win new friends. However, it is important that the guests understand the multilingual nature

of the tours in advance.

Service standards

Hotels: We are in general using good centrally located superior 3 star, 4 star or 5 star hotels. Our

most popular tours, the Baltic Highlights tour, the Russian Capitals tour and the Baltic and Russian

Explorer tour, are off ered in a 1st class and a deluxe variant. We reserve the right to change the

hotels. Alternative hotels will be of the same standard as the hotels featured in the catalogue both

in terms of standard and location. Final hotel names will be advised latest 1 month prior to arrival.

Meals: Breakfasts are buff et style at all hotels.

Coaches: Our coaches are new 49-seater 1st class coaches with air conditioning, adjustable

seats, toilet, fridge and possible other conveniences. Depending on sales some tours or segment

of tours and optional tours will be operated with new 1st class minivans with adjustable seats

and air conditioning. For comfort and security we always keep at least 3 empty seats in coaches

and minivans. Passengers are covered by 3rd person liability insurance. Drivers are driving strictly

according to EU regulations. We do not allow smoking in the vehicles. Seating in the vehicles is free.

Tour escorts: Our tour escorts are university graduates and have been specially trained

as guides and as bilingual tour escorts. The tour escorts we use are very experienced

and most have been working for us for many years. The tour escorts will be assisted by

local guides if needed or required.

Quietvox: Tours in Finland and Russia will be operated with QUIETVOX, an audio

communication system for group tours, providing the guests with the fi nest tour guide

system in the world through the application of state-of-the-art technology.

Portage: Portage of one piece of luggage is included at all 4 and 5 star hotels and

railway stations

Visa support: Visa is required for almost all nationalities for tours including Russia and

only for some fewer nationalities for tours covering EU destinations. If visa support is

required we supply that complemantary. We cannot accept any responsibility for guests

arriving without valid passport and visa.

Number of participants: We allow max 45 guests on the same tour. The average

number of guests is around 35. For the Baltic Biking tour we allow max 21 guests on

the same tour and for the Baltic Hiking tour max 31 guests on the same tour. These

tours are often full.

Special features

Arrival and departure transfers: Guests can order private arrival and departure

transfers. By arrival transfer the guests will be met by a driver with a name board

reading their surnames in the arrival hall of the airport. Guests should co-ordinate their

departure transfer with the tour escort.

Welcome letter: On arrival to the hotel the guests will receive a personalized

welcome letter announcing time and place for the welcome meeting.

Welcome meeting: During the welcome meeting the guests will be served a

welcome drink. The tour escort will introduce the program and the optional tours and

the guests will receive various materials such as a personalized program and various

information materials.

in some few cases the restaurants are within walking distance from the hotel (max 10

min walk) and transport is not included. At both hotels and local restaurants additional

drinks can be ordered and paid for at the spot.

Pre- and Post stays

We off er attractive rates for guests who would like to arrive earlier or departure later. Please ask for a

detailed pricelist.

Quality, safety and security

Quality control Our ambition is to render the best possible service and we ask all guests to fi ll out

a service questionnaire evaluating the service. The questionnaires are handed over to the guests during

the welcome meeting and collected at the end of the tour.

Moreover, we are happy to receive feed back in any other form, aiming to help us to maintain and raise

the standards of our product.

Safety and security Safety and security is a major priority in all our operations. We only use

suppliers that guarantee the same thing. We carefully check the insurance and operating licenses of

all our suppliers.

Diplomas for active touring: The participants in the Baltic Biking tour and Baltic

Hiking Tour will receive a diploma for successfully completing active touring in the

Baltic countries at the end of the tour.

More value

Optional excursions and dinners: Our tours come with an extensive choice of

optional excursions and dinners. The optional services can be booked in advance or

during the tour.

The optional excursions feature important highlights not included into the standard

sightseeing tours and always include transport, guide service and entrances.

The optional dinners are either half-board at hotel or special dinners at local restaurants.

Dinners at hotels are either a substantial 3-course set menu or buff et style. The dinners

include ice-water and coff ee/tea. Dinners at local restaurant include a substantial

3-course menu with ice-water and coff ee/tea. In some cases alcoholic drinks, folklore

music or other types of live music is included. We have carefully chosen local restaurants

which are typical of the area and yet something special and which off er good food and

service and good value. The dinners at local restaurants include guide and transport,

DAY 1 (SUNDAY): ARRIVAL VILNIUSArrival in Vilnius, optional transfer to Hotel Radisson Blu Lietuva**** /

DAY 2 (MONDAY): VILNIUSVilnius is known for its more than 1.200 medieval buildings and 48

churches. The morning sightseeing tour includes a panoramic tour

of the city and a walking tour of the Old Town with Vilnius Cathedral,

Gediminas Tower, Peter and Paul Church, St. Anne’s Church, Old Univer-

sity and the Gates of Dawn. The afternoon off ers an optional excursion

to Trakai, the medieval capital of Lithuania, with the well preserved

Trakai Castle, beautifully located on an island in Lake Galve. In the eve-

ning enjoy an optional folklore dinner at Restaurant Belmontas.

DAY 3 (TUESDAY): VILNIUS-RIGAHeading for Riga, the fi rst stop is the Hills of Crosses, one of the most

holy sites of Catholic Lithuania. After crossing into Latvia we soon

reach the magnifi cent Rundale Palace, the former summer residence

of the Duke of Courland. Following a guided tour of the palace we

travel through the rolling hills of Southern Latvia to reach Riga late

afternoon, check-in at Hotel Radisson Blu Latvija****/ Hotel Radisson

Blu Ridzene***** or similar.

DAY 4 (WEDNESDAY): RIGABefore we get acquainted with Riga we have the possibility of discov-

ering medieval Latvia. The optional tour for this morning takes us to

the stunning scenery of the Gauja National Park and the town of Sigul-

da. We listen to the medieval Latvian legend of the Rose of Turaida and

see the ruins of the Episcopal Castle and of the Castle of the Knights of

the Sword before we return to Riga. The afternoon off ers an optional

visit to the Ethnographical Open Air Museum, a spacious exposition of

18th century country life. The evening off ers an optional organ concert

at the Dome Cathedral.

DAY 5 (THURSDAY): RIGARiga, founded in 1201 by the German bishop Albert, is the largest of

the three Baltic capitals and boasts a real kaleidoscope of architectural

styles. The walking tour of the Old Town includes Riga Castle, the Dome

Cathedral, St. Peter’s Church, the Swedish Gate, the Three Brothers, the

Large and Small Guilds and the Freedom Monument. The afternoon is

reserved for an optional visit to Jurmala, the vibrant Latvian sea resort,

famous for its wooden architecture and sandy beaches. In the evening

enjoy an optional Latvian dinner at the stylish Restaurant La Boheme.

DAY 6 (FRIDAY): RIGA-TALLINNThe tour continues along the coastal highway to the Estonian summer

resort of Parnu. We do a short tour of the resort before we continue

through the North Estonian land of forests and arrive in Tallinn early

afternoon, check-in at the Hotel Radisson Blu Olympia****/ Hotel

Savoy Boutique***** or similar.

DAY 7 (SATURDAY): TALLINNTallinn is a charming blend of medieval tranquility and modern

urban life. The medieval Old Town is a busy place in the summer

with its many shops, galleries, souvenir markets, outdoor cafés and

restaurants. The sightseeing tour takes us around the old medieval city

walls and into the Old Town where we see Toompea Castle, the Dome

Church, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the medieval Old Town Hall.

In the afternoon an optional excursion is off ered to Kadriorg Park with

a visit to the Kadriorg Palace and its art collections. The evening off ers

an optional medieval dinner at Restaurant Peppersack.

thin, 100 km stretch of land between the Baltic Sea and the Curonian

Lagoon with small fi shing villages, pine forests and endless sand

dunes. Our fi rst stop is the Hill of Witches in Juodkrante. After that we

continue to Nida, where we visit the High Dunes, Thomas Mann’s sum-

merhouse and get acquainted with the charming resort town before

we drive back to Klaipeda. The evening off ers an optional Lithuanian

dinner at Restaurant Luja.

DAY 4 (WEDNESDAY): KLAIPEDA-RIGA Klaipeda fi rst became a part of Lithuania in 1923 and had a long his-

tory as a German town called Memel. A short sightseeing tour takes

us to the Old Town with its narrow, cobblestone streets and old guild

houses and we visit the Theatre Square and the Aennchen von Tharau

Fountain. We now continue to the Samogitia National Park, where we

embark on a walking tour around the picturesque Lake Plateliai. After

that we continue to Siauliai and Cross Hills, one of the holiest sites of

Catholic Lithuania. We head North into Latvia and reach Riga in the

afternoon, check-in at Hotel Radisson Blu Latvija**** or similar. The

evening off ers an optional organ concert at the Dome Cathedral.

DAY 7 (MONDAY): HELSINKIHelsinki is truly located at the crossroads of Western and Eastern culture and this

tour takes us around the harbors, up central Mannerheim Street and by the

Parliament Building, the Finlandia Hall, and the Sibelius Monument and for a visit

at the famous Church-in-the-Rock. The afternoon off ers an optional excursion

to Seurasaari Open-Air Museum, an oasis in the midst of the city with cottages,

farmsteads and manors from all around Finland.

DAY 8 (TUESDAY): HELSINKI-ST. PETERSBURGToday we continue eastbound to St. Petersburg. Shortly after crossing the border

into Russia we arrive in Vyborg, where we take time for a short sightseeing tour

and a visit to Vyborg Castle. In the late afternoon we arrive in St. Petersburg and

check-in at Hotel Park Inn Nevsky**** or similar.

DAY 9 (WEDNESDAY): ST. PETERSBURGSt. Petersburg is an amazing city. Its imperial palaces and museums enjoy

worldwide fame, while the Neva River and the many canals have deservedly

given the city the title “The Venice of the North”. During the morning sightseeing

tour we get acquainted with all the splendors of the city: the Peter and Paul

Fortress, the Winter Palace, St. Isaac’s Cathedral, the Church of the Bleeding

Savior, the Nevsky Convent and much more. The afternoon off ers an optional visit

to the world-famous Hermitage Art Museum. In the evening enjoy an optional

visit to the Nikolaevsky Palace with an exciting Russian folklore show and Russian

“Champagne” and snacks.

DAY 10 (THURSDAY): ST. PETERSBURGAn optional excursion in the morning off ers a visit to Peterhof, an uncontested

masterpiece of the time of Peter the Great, with the impressive Grand Palace,

Grand Cascade and Water Avenue and its wonderful parks. The afternoon is

reserved an optional excursion to Zarskoye Selo with the impressive Catherine’s

Palace and the Amber Room, which vanished during World War II and was

restored for St. Petersburg’s tri-centennial celebrations. In the evening enjoy an

DAY 6 (SUNDAY): WARSAW-VILNIUSWe continue through the well forested North Poland along the eastern fringe of the

Masurian Lakeland, a myriad of postglacial lakes representing some of the most

beautiful nature in the whole of Poland and continue into Lithuania to reach Kaunas,

a genuine Lithuanian city. We take a stroll in the Old Town with its elegant Old Town

Hall and Gothic cathedral. We continue eastwards and arrive soon in Vilnius. Check in

DAY 7 (MONDAY): VILNIUSVilnius is known for its more than 1.200 medieval buildings and 48 churches. The

tour of the palace we travel through the rolling hills of Southern Latvia to reach Riga

DAY 9 (WEDNESDAY): RIGABefore we get acquainted with Riga we have the possibility of discovering medieval

DAY 4 (SUNDAY): GEILO-BERGENToday we enter the breathtaking Norwegian nature. We continue through the

Waterfall. We cross the Hardanger Fjord by ferry and continue along its shores to

Bergen. Situated on a peninsula surrounded by 7 mountains the history of Bergen

We take a stroll through the city centre and visit the ruins of the castle before we continue to Virtsu, where we embark on the ferry to Kuivastu on Muhu Island and from here it is only an hour’s drive to Kuressaare and Hotel Grand Rose****, check-in. The late afternoon is reserved using the exquisite spa facilities at the hotel.

DAY 4 (MONDAY): SAAREMAASaaremaa is the biggest Island in Estonia and during the optional 6-hour tour we explore all its secrets. We start with a tour of Kuressaare, the largest town on the island, where many conquerors have left a worthy heritage of Baroque, Gothic and Classicist architecture. We stroll though the town and visit the Episcopal Castle, the best preserved medieval fortress in Estonia. After that we visit the windmills in Angla, the St. Catherine’s Church in Karja and Kali Craters before we return to Kuressaare.

DAY 5 (TUESDAY): SAAREMAA-LAHEMAAThe ferry brings us back to the mainland and we head south for Parnu,

the prime summer resort in Estonia. We do a tour of the resort and a leisurely stroll along the beach. After lunch break we head north through a magnifi cent scenery to Rakvere, a peaceful provincial town still benefi ting from its Hanseatic legacy. We stop to see Rakvere Castle and after that a short drive brings us to the Lahemaa National Park and to Vihula Manor, a large, charming 16th century estate, which has been painstakingly restored to a comfortable hotel and leisure resort. DAY 6: (WEDNESDAY): LAHEMAAThe Lahemaa National Park has been a protected park since the 1970s and off ers a blend of unspoiled fl ora and fauna, untouched rivers and lakes, small quaint villages and costal towns, sandy beaches and old manor houses. During an optional 6-hour trip we visit the ethnographical village in Altja, the harbour in Vergi and the coastal towns of Vosu and Kasmu. The highlight of the trip is the visit to the Palmse Manor, a memorial to the von Pahlen family. streets and old guild houses and we visit the Theatre Square and the Aennchen von Tharau

Fountain. We now continue to the Samogitia National Park, where we embark on a walking

tour around the picturesque Lake Plateliai. After that we continue to Siauliai and Cross Hills,

one of the holiest sites of Catholic Lithuania. We head North into Latvia and reach Riga in

DAY 3 (SUNDAY): CESIS-VILNIUSToday we drive through the Gauja National Park to Sigulda, a popular holiday resort.

the magnifi cent Rundale Palace, the former summer residence of the Duke of Courland.

Following a guided tour of the palace we travel through Lithuania to reach Vilnius late

DAY 4 (MONDAY): VILNIUS-KLAIPEDAVilnius is known for its more than 1.200 medieval buildings and 48 churches. The morning

sightseeing tour includes a panoramic tour of the city and a walking tour of the Old Town

with Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Tower, Peter and Paul Church, St. Anna’s Church, Old

University and the Gates of Dawn. After the tour we continue to Trakai, the medieval

DAY 5 (TUESDAY): KLAIPEDA-NIDAToday we continue to the Curonian Spit, a thin, 100 km stretch of land between the Baltic

dunes. The fi rst stop is at the Hill of Witches in Juodkrante. After that we continue to Nida

where we visit the High Dunes, Thomas Mann’s Summer House and get acquainted with the

DAY 6 (WEDNESDAY) – DAY 11 (MONDAY): NIDA With its location at the Curonian Lagoon and its combination of old-fashioned fi shing
