Jerry and I had never experienced such asevere earthquake as that which abruptlyawakened us from peaceful sleep, Monday,January 17th, 4:30 a-m.! Compounding theshock was our blasting burglar alarm. Whilethe shaking continued we could not get it offbecause It was on motion detector. We havenever questioned who is In control of theuniverse, or our lives but for those who doan £AfiTrJQU>U<.£ ought to make one realize Itis NOT man! fSBFtUMiYTim received word that a painting he

From there It would go to variouscongressmen and senators offices. Hereceived a congratulatory letter from SenatorBarbara Boxer. hopes were finally realized: at last we weregoing back to Oregon! Left March 24 forPortland, arriving 26. We had concerts InPortland, Lebanon, Sweet Home, Wilsonviile, and two in Turner. Sunday morning. A very special Joy wasbeing able to spend some time with our dearfriends Burl and Bernlta Shoemake. Burl

does Al.l of our printing. Appreciation tohim and ALL WHO HELP HIM can NEVER be

put Into words. You CAN depend on Burl andBernlta! They reside at lovely TurnerChristian Home. Jerry and I concluded It washar(^ to leave but It was a long trip homeand a concert was scheduled Thursday InAnaheim. One word for total tour

M XCEI I F-NTFM What blessings were ours.Wo had a delightful concert that Thursday, followed by a return trip to centralCfilifornia for a fun time with our friends at

Castro Valley Christian Church.MAY JUNE JULY

Concerts all In Southern CA during thisperiod. It gave us time to work full^peedahead on a lour east. We learned about

Williams Syndrome this past year, and thatIts' characteristics resolve many unansweredquestions concerning Tim, especially hissevere' physical problems In early years!Interesting is the profound love for music agroat share of these people have. A friendcalled us about the Information, from thatfive from Orange County (all gifted) met andformed a group. There was a WilliamsSyndrome convention held In San Diego inJuly ?8 31 for which they provided aconcert. Tim also closed the convention with

'Rellections Americana*.

/I uausr EMBERFor the first time a music camp especially

for Williams Syndrome people, was held atBelvoir Terrace (A Fine and Performing ArtsCenter) Lenox, MA, In the scenic Berkshirehills just minutes from the Tanglewood MusicFestival of Boston Symphony Orchestra. Wehoped Tim could go, but It was expensive foru^ A c^alT ciFjme asking If he as going. Isaid T really didn't Icnow. Then I was toldhe was being offered a full tuition ($500.00)scholarship for the week. Parents couldstay at the camp for $250.00 per person(room and board). If we worked our wayacross the country, we could go. We begana book in 1981, of requests for concerts bystates. We felt many of the people hadrelocated by this time. Not so, ALL werestill there and dates were good either goingor returning! Without a doubt it was theEASIEST TOUR I HAVE EVER BOOKED! We leftvery early August 6j with first concert the7th In Prescott, AZ. WS worked towardsLenox arriving August 19, the beginning ofcamp. There were forty students and manyof the parents from all across the U.S.Friendships were built by all, andcamaraderie was an added blessing. Those

of us with older children were privileged tolend hope, encouragement, and at timesadvice, to those whose children were justbeginning to bloom. It was discovered Timhad a new talent - ceramics - and amongthings he made was a rhinoceros. We did notknow he knew what one really looked like, but he crafted It without a picture, evendown to the bird on Its' back that eats the

bugs! He also participated in and wasencouraged to sing. A talent program wasexciting seeing many, who never performedbefore an audience, and of course there werestanding ovations galore! A highlight for Timwas a duet with, staff member. Dr. LauraGoldberg, who teaches violin and chambermusic at Columbia University. She is superb, and as lovely as her talents. For the talentshow Tim ac^mpanled her as they presented'Amazing Graced. So beautiful and moving!Speaking of staff: They had adequatecounselors and faculty not only well qualified, but they harbored a real concern and lovefor our children. Other incidentals were:4£/

x>/£i/ic»£; throughout the camp. Even one In. abathroom! Part of the staff from the finalweek of summer music camp for girls washeld over. The elegant three story estatehome, built In 1888 (I think), served as themain building. So much to be said but asummation; A week with miles of smiles, hugsgalore and so much more. Everyone had adeep realization our world would be safe andwonderful If it had just an 'nth' of loveshared there. Camp ended with a finalperformance by each group of students, which was a real tear jerker as we saw thetremendous accomplishment of one short week.

MIOrhlEFi BAY Oi^i OUR VJAYiWe left camp misty eyed on Aug. 25, still

working east and eventually turning west. The last concert was In Amarillo, TX Sept. 18and arrival home was the 20th (a little roadworn). We traveled through 15 states, giving24 performances, and logging 7,755 miles. Itwas an absolutely flawless trip! We couldhardly fathom God's ENDLESS BLESSINGS afew are: 1- excellent attendance everywhere(most unusual in summer), 2- response fromthe audiences so appreciative andenthusiastic, 3- our safety and a van thatperformed perfectly, 4- good health, 5-unbellevable weather with only 3 partial daysof rain (none to hamper driving and It wasclear at each concert). Tornados and rainhad been forecast across New York the daywe were crossing it. A bit of mist butLOVELY as we left town! 6 - Finally, ourfinances covered the cost of renting the vanfor 7 weeks, and all expenses!!! Yes, weprayed for safety, but God gave us far more.

Blessings we'll always cherish - meeting ahost of wonderful OLD (not necessarily Inyears) and so many new friends, and thegenerous hospitality we had everywhere wewent. OUR JSINCERE. HEARTFELT THANKS TOONE AND ALU Was it worth it? Yes, ohyes, every last mile! Tim is hopeful andplanning next year! Time will tell, but we'llpray about it.

ChlA TTEfi PLA rrEff of FAi'UL Y APiD ^TUFF!Getting home was wonderful, but it

seemed that was short lived as we saw the

stacks of mail and the mountains of dirtylaundry. Oh well in time it was all takencare of! Concerts were light during Octoberand it was a blessing to be able to partiallycatch up. Also, numerous trips to the Dr.It is a very long (painful too) story.Briefly, on the first night of the WilliamsSyndrome convention in San Diego I pusheda rest room door (not heavy) open. Therewas crucial pain, and a LOUD crack in myshoulder. No medical around hotel, sostruggled through week-end. Went tohospital emergency as we arrived in Anaheim.Result: Two Dr. said it was a torn rotator

cuff. Saw a specialist, "Nothing broken, have a good trip." He injected it withcortisone. Still severe pain. Left on touranyway. It hurt the whole time! Home, toanother specialist, "You have a ixjr/i fomtcj/'cuffl" I*m still in great pain. Have hadacupuncture, and various medicines. Theysay surgery, I choose to try to hang inthere. It is NOT guaranteed to help(hopefully it would) but would be anextensive and long surgery he said.Recovery would be a minimum of 3 months. This would be a real drag and hamper ourwork greatly! I will get another cortisoneshot (3rd one) soon. Your prayers are vital.Compounding it all is, it is my right arm! This has bothered Tim greatly.

There was a real Happy - NING whenJerry came home with the mail recently. Aletter informed us Tim was 1st PLACE

WINNER in a National art contest sponsoredby A Positive Approach magazine! Awonderful magazine for persons with physicalor mental disabilities or those wanting tolearn more about such. Tim entered 3

slides. The letter said:

COMMENT: 2 Slides: 1. Flamingo2. Keys to Color

We told Tim this was cause for celebration.

You guessed it, "Let's eat Mexican food!"Dad and Tim are starting a new program,

"Reflections of our Beautiful World", and ispromising to be a real challenge to complete!

1995 will be our 15th ANNIVERSARY of

beginning our ministry with Tim in Concert!

It doesn't seem possible. I am sure yourealize mom and dad are coming close toHANGING UP all the travel. We are hopefulby the end of 1995 we can have somethingpermanent and concrete for Tim. His onlyand persistent dream is his VERY OWN artgallery and small performance setting. Wehave over 400 paintings and thousands ofnotecards (all originals), boxes of newspaperclippings, letters, memoirs galore, etc. Itwould make a marvelous museum/gailery.MONEY is the only problem. We have gone topeople all these years, (service organizations, schools [they take field trips], tour busses, senior groups, the list is endless) now thiswould be a greater way to see all that isavailable. A small concert setting would allowpeople to enjoy a concert with a plus -seeing the vast art and memoirs. Tim wouldbe the happiest person ever, his work wouldbe enjoyed fully and he would not fall backthrough the cracks. God did not give himthese gifts to END with us. Pray that we seeand know HIS leading: WHAT, WHERE, WHENand HOW. It is an A\1£^Oi4E responsibility!

We pause and are humbled, at thisbeautiful season of the year giving unendingthanks for the • love, expressions ofkindnesses shown to us and certainly, thefinancial help (many of you since thebeginning of our ministry). It is a changingworld and with it we feel the great change. However, God is always the great providerand we trust Him for all things. Know thatyou all are special to us! Please let us hearfrom you.

Wishing each of you a season of joy, goodhealth, and above all the peace He gives!

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earthpeace among men in whom He is well please.ASV Luke 2:14 God bless you each one.

Our Love,

Jerry, Rosemary and Tim
