Introduction by Faculty Advisor Creating an environment in which students, and staff, can achieve

their full potential is one of three overarching aims of the Oriental

Institute of Science and Technology. Excellence in teaching and

research and the provision of first class facilities are crucial to this

mission and helping students to develop their confidence, their

entrepreneurial skills and their experience of operating in a tough

and challenging “real” world are vitally important ingredients in

personal development. There is nothing more encouraging than

seeing students embrace a project that captures their imagination.

This project is a superb example. At the end of it, the students will

have learned volumes about hands-on technology, about the

professional world and about themselves. They will achieve a

greater sense of their own abilities and potential.

Introduction by Team Leader

Involvement with BAJA SAEINDIA provides an invaluable opportunity for the

students to work in an industry/business type environment, allowing them to

apply the knowledge gained from their studies to a real-world challenge and to

extend their skills and experiences; something that they do not ordinarily

experience during their studies. The students involved in the team are all highly

motivated and devote a large proportion of their spare time to working with the

team. Attributes that are expected of them include professionalism, team

working, interpersonal and communication skills, pro-activity, innovation and

problem solving skills, all qualities highly valued by employers. Obtaining

sponsorship not only helps with finances; it also produces valuable contacts with

industry and is in itself a measure of the success of the team. The benefits for

with the college and enhanced opportunities to recruit some of the best graduates.

Overview of Oriental Institute of Science and Technology, Bhopal

Our educational pursuit began in 1995, when Oriental Institute of Science &

Technology came into being. We toiled hard amidst adversities to reach our goal

of developing an internationally acclaimed group of Institutions. Today with

world class infrastructure, highly experienced and motivated faculty, superb

industry focus, competitive passion, cutting edge and a galaxy of top rankers to

our credit, we have a distinctive edge in the area of Technical education. OIST

the oldest among all the Institutes, has reached its objective with the NBA

accreditation for all its programs.

The Institute stands majestically on State highway linking BHEL Township &

Raisen. It is well connected by local transport; the Institute is 11 kms from

Bhopal main & 7 kms from Habibganj Railway Station. The Campus is

extended over an area of 17 acres, depicts a rare blend of modern and ancient

architecture creating an ideal environment for academic excellence.

The administrative block stands in the forefront (Corporate Office) and a

magnificent workshop at its rear, the side wings boast of well-equipped

laboratories and spacious lecture halls.

A huge auditorium and a library at the center, give an aesthetic luster to its

scrupulously designed layout.

OIST is the most preferred choice of the PET selected students seeking

admission through counseling conducted by the University of the State.

Overview of BAJA SAEINDIA

Baja is an International competition that challenges college students to design,

fabricate, and race an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV).

Rulebook guidelines place restrictions on the engine and frame, testing the

imagination, knowledge, and creativity of the students.

The vehicles are judged through both dynamic and static events. Students

design the Baja vehicle as if it is a prototype for a company, so cost,

appearance, reliability, and performance all become key factors in judging.

This competition, like all SAE competitions bring students together from not

only across the country, but from around the world. The objective of the Baja

Competition is to apply our knowledge gained in classrooms and put it into

practice.

Overview of Team ENIGMA

Team ENIGMA has been participating consecutively from last 5 years in BAJA

SAE. Team consists of 21 members including designers, technical engineers,

planning managers, marketing team etc., with their Faculty Advisor. After various

stages of scrutiny of team and design of ELEANOR (name of our ATV), team

ENIGMA is in the final event of BAJA SAEINDIA 2014 with other 119 teams

from all over the Nation. Overall 327 teams across the Nation participated in

Virtual BAJA SAE, but only 120 teams got shortlisted. Team ENIGMA is one of

them.
